Has anyone ever visited a tack shop in King George, Va called La Grange Farm & Tack?

The ONLY info I can find on it online is a brief ad for a lesson and boarding barn by that name that apparently also has a tack shop. It says they give lesson in English and western, so possibly they carry both types of items at the shop as well.

I'm wondering how extensive their merchandise is -- are they limited to kids' consignment clothing or do they also carry new stuff (for adults)? Do they carry barn supplies (stall guards, fly masks, Swat, etc.)?

It's a LOOONG drive out there, but I have a gift certificate for them. I don't want to drive that far and then find out they don't have anything I can use.  I'm not sure it's worth the gas to drive there as it is. :(

Yes, I could call them, but other than running through a list of supplies that I need and asking if they carry those items, I thought maybe a CoTH person might be able to give me a better idea of what the shop is like. ;)

Can anyone offer a description of the shop? It would be much appreciated! :D

I've stopped a few times. It is located at a big lesson type barn. They have some really wacky hours, as each time I've stopped it has been closed.

I have peered thorough the window. I didn't really get the feeling of dover, more like a glorified backyard setup. Given your drive, doubtful it would pan out for your unless you just wanted to buy consumable type stuff.

La Grange isnt real big, at least it wasnt the last time I was over there. When I go to VA to go tack shopping, I go to Double LL. They have a wonderful store and great people!

HMMMMMM. That's NOT a good sign. The ad claims that their hours are 9 to 5 daily, as I recall. Guess I'd better call before I head out there, thanks for the warning.

*Consumable-type stuff*?? Do you mean barn supplies like fly spray and treats? Or...?? (Which begs the question: What's *non-consumable stuff*? )

I really just need to pick up some general barn items like Swat, a stall guard, maybe some treats....you know, the stuff you always need to have on hand. ;)

I have a gift certificate to La Grange, otherwise, I'd just go to the local SS, Dover or order stuff online.

I'm just a bit worried that I'm going to waste a ton of gas and time hauling down there and find out they have nothing but used kiddie clothes or cutesy notepaper and jewelry. I need some more practical items at the moment. :D:cool:

Blaster, are you still here? :) Or Boomerbutt? I could use a bit more detail.

If it's strictly kids' stuff (used/consignment clothes) or a giftshop-y kind of place, I probably won't go. But if they do sell barn supplies, I'll head down there.

Has anyone else ever been there?

I havent been there in a long time. My suggestion would be to call them and ask what they have in stock. What I remember was alot of consignment, some suppliments and gift stuff, but nothing like a bigger store....

I would go to Double L or Booth feeds for that stuff. The Grange is really weird!
