Update on the Driving Discipline of Alltech WEG 2010

There is still opportunity for you to be a part of both the test event this year and the WEG. Here's a little information that may help you make that decision.

Housing: WEG volunteers will be given different options for housing at a minimal cost to them. There are several outlets being looked into including housing in local churches, temporary housing being brought in to put up a "volunteer village" much like the Groom's village, and WEG leasing a local boarding school that will feature semi-private and bunkhouse type rooms. There are also some hotel rooms blocked in the lower price range for volunteers. All reservations will be made through the WEG volunteer office, when the time comes. You will have to be a volunteer to be eligible for these rooms.

You may have heard that Ariat is the volunteer sponsor for the WEG 2010. What does this mean to you? Really cool free stuff! Volunteers will be getting free shirts for this year's test event and a plethora of free items for the actual games.

So, if you are interested in signing up for either event, visit https://2010wegdriving.theregistrationsystem.com/en/registration/index/301. If you are interested in volunteering for this years test event, make sure you enter that you are available. The site says you must be available Thursday-Sunday, but if you are not, we may still be able to use you. You can drop me an email after you register to let me know when you are available, if its not the whole weekend.

We'll also be needing some volunteers pre-competition:
Sunday morning to set up the dressage arena.
Tuesday and Wednesday to be Assistant Stable Managers.
Friday after dressage to tear down the dressage arena and set the cones arena.

Again you MUST REGISTER to volunteer at this years test event Oct 1-4, 2009 and for the Driving portion of the WEG on the link above. Even if you have registered to be an WEG volunteer, please go back in and make sure you have registered for the Test event, if you are planning on volunteering. We're hoping to have as many volunteers for WEG in place at this year's Test event as possible.

If you are interested in being involved with the games in an other-than-driving capacity, you can check out the other competitions and general volunteer links here: http://www.alltechfeigames.com/volunteer/default.aspx?id=258&ekmensel=c580fa7b_8_40_btnlink

Define "minimal cost" as applies to housing, please. Lex KY event hotel prices don't qualify as minimal in my book!

It is my understanding, from the Alltech WEG 2010 Voluneer Coordinator, that minimal cost will be cheap, not Lexington Event Prices, since we want to take care of our volunteers and assist them in NOT breaking the bank as well as staying somewhere: clean, close, and comfortable. She didn't quote any costs, but stressed it would be affordable.
