Hey guys. I'm new to the forums. Anyone want to show their before and after pictures of their diamond in the rough's? These always amaze me how some people have such a eye and talent to bring out the best in their horses!

I don't know if this counts but this is the mare and foal I bought at an auction a year ago. She was 3 years old and had never been backed. The baby was 13 days old. (we still have him too) We knew nothing about her when we bid on her, and I was planning on training her and selling her and keeping the baby. I almost sold her before I knew she would be perfect for my daughter. I'm so glad I didn't sell her!

http://xs140.xs.to/xs140/09272/going_home782.jpg

and here is a picture of the mare taken on Saturday at her 2nd horse show. She is now my daughter's pony club pony and show pony and my daughter is learning how to jump and canter on her.

http://xs140.xs.to/xs140/09272/success_small609.jpg

I can't wait to see what next years pic of her will be! This little mare has done everything asked of her and has gone above and beyond for my daughter and I daily. We couldn't be happier!

I just had to share a few pics of my boy. I got him in Ireland in January of last year as a coming 5 yr old. He was super gangly and babyish looking. He was a croup high 17.1 hand monster that I for some reason saw all kinds of potential in. When I brought him home, everybody was like "Ummmm.... well as long as you love him". Now, a year and a half later, he has completely changed shape and developed into a really nice horse. All of a sudden people are starting to see what I saw in him. I'm so proud of my pony!!

This is Andy when I first looked at him a year and a half ago..he was stuck in a field 24/7 and hated it...

This is Andy after his second horse show about a year ago, completely spoiled now with a nice big stall, regular turn out, and plenty of treats..I definitely saw the diamond in the rough..:)

Haha actually...when I went to go see him/pick him up - it took us about half an hour to catch him. haha. He DID NOT want to leave his buddies or his dinner. He also tried to kick me in the round pen - lovely. But he had an AMAZING and huge canter stride so I said why not. He wasn't that expensive but was a lot of fun. :)

Pony saved from slaughter by a farm and I bought him from them for my daughter. This was when we first got him, fat and hairy and not to pretty about 2 1/2 years ago.

Now today, he is sleek but still fat.lol And they have their first show in less than 2 weeks. :D Excuse the baling twine, we just rounduped the arena and I didn't want him to get any of the grass (sometimes he'll take a bite)

I'm getting ready to bring the youngsters up and start clipping and cleaning . . . you all just gave me added incentive! Hopefully they will clean up as nice as everyone else's.

My diamond in the rough is our 7 year old welsh stallion...Found him on a cow farm in Hermingston, Or..Untouchable, ropes in his mane and feet way to long...We chased him over a few hay bales to see his jump, my daughter(11 at the time) pinched my hand why she was seeing this amazing jump! I got her message lound and clear....18 months later he was 2007 WPCSA National Champion, 2008 Res, Natioanl Champion has won Grand Championships and Supremes from coast to coast...He has sired beautiful welsh/thbd hunter babies( winning in hand). Beside the kids ride him and my daughter has won jr. handling classes with him....He is a true blessing to our farm. Please visit out web site to view Dan Patch....

So I don't know if he qualifies as a Diamond in the Rough, but he was certainly thin, young, immature and out of shape.

The Cover All peeps, I presume? :) This is the only one (that I know of) in my area as well. I love the barn she's at ... the Cover All arena is huge (120 x 240) and they drag it daily. The outdoor is even bigger and has the nike + sand footing. There are also round pens and a regulation dressage arena. I really adore it. Plus, the Cover All is so much better for taking riding pictures in than a regular indoor! :D
