My mare,Annie Rooney, is in foal!!!!

I just had to share this with someone!!! I have never done shipped-from-afar semen....and my mare confounded us with a closed cervix every time we checked. But VOILA the ultrasound revealed a little baby CUNNINGHAM !!! We have her on Regumate until we get the results of her hormone levels...but so far all looks great. I greatly appreciated the very gracious, encouraging and cooperative Mary Slouka for making this experience so much easier than I anticipated. She so obviously loves her fantastic stallion.

This is my first show horse foal in 27 years!!! Years ago I bred Sassoon, and Colerain, both became top hunters. For the past 26 years I haven't bred any mares of my own, but have enjoyed the standardbreds my husband breeds, who live, conceive and foal in the field. It has taught me a lot. but Annie is huge and I do not think I will have the courage to be as hands off as we are with the standardbreds. Eleven standardbred foals without a hitch this year and little stress......I am sure with Annie I will not be so calm!!!
