After talking to a few other breeders, I've heard a lot of stories, good and bad, about various frozen semen brokers. Could we start a thread here about which brokers you all have good experiences with? I would be interested in hearing negative experiences by PM as well. I am looking at frozen semen offered by a few different brokers for next year and I want to make sure I don't get burned. There are so many brokers out there, Yancey Farms, A-1, Superior Equine Sires . . .would love to hear your experiences with these brokers.
I'll start . . .This year has been my first experience with frozen. I ordered and paid for a dose of Blu Hors Romanov from Rideauwood Farms. At the last moment, it ended up that the Romanov semen was not eligibile for import to Canada. Doug from Rideauwood bent over backwards to make sure I was happy (offered me many options including a full refund, a different stallion, or trying to obtain a dose of Romanov from a private person), and ended up giving me a great deal on a dose of Belissimo M. Mare is being preg checked on Monday!
Anyone else have experiences to share?

Hey - congrats on your breeding to Belissimo. I have a pregnancy, on one attempt (maiden mare) and know of other 1st-try successes as well.
I agree that Doug goes out of his way to give excellent service and complete instructions. He has a great roster of stallions, and charges no extra "handling fees" - which is a big help. I hope he'll have Romanov next year (as I want some too:))
My semen from him arrived error-free, and shipping was much less expensive.

A-1 (Ann Graves) is always awesome to work with and Ive had 99% success with what Ive been sent.

Kathy Hickerson from Majestic Gaits is very easy to deal with and I was always satisfied. Malouin Manor only dealt once and she did a wonderful job and I am from Canada so with CEM it is a lot of work for them. Hassler were great for fresh semen and Iron Spring Farm too.

Some others that I dealt with were OK, some pretty bad but I do not feel comfortable to blast them here on Coth.

We have tried a few different brokers and the one I would highly recommend as well is Doug with Rideauwood. He goes WAY out of his way to make sure the customer is happy, you can tell that he actually values his customers and is willing to go out of his way if somehow he cannot provide a stallion or if something doesn't go right.

I certainly can't say that for the others we have dealt with !!.

I dealt with Superior Equine Sires this year and so far, so good! My second time breeding, and first experience w/frozen.

Carol Austin was a pleasure to speak to, and was very careful with the shipping when it turned out that FedEx didn't recognize the address for my vet as "valid," calling to check with me before sending it--I wound up getting the shipment myself (I was pretty sure our address would be "valid") and less than 24 hrs later, got the container no problem, and had it to my vet within 30 min.

I would have to second A-1 Performance Sires (Ann Graves). She is quick to respond to any questions I might have, has a great stallion selection, and is reasonably priced. :D

I have only dealt with one broker, Dianna Orona of Fox Creek Farm in Kansas. She represents the German Riding Pony stallions Halifax and Kennedy and I found her to be very helpful.

I'll reccomend Classic Sires :) Kevin was very helpful, and the process was very smooth. Although Classic Sires is the only company I've ever purchased semen from, I'll definately go back to them.
