Tire covers or cardboard?

I've got to cover the brand spankin' new tires on the horse van. It gets E & W sun all day, so one side or the other is always baking. No choice in where it's parked.

I've heard tire covers can retain moisture. But is cardboard really gonna do the trick?

What do those of you with outside trailer storage use?

I took my trailer to a place that makes boat covers and had them make two "curtains" that snap onto the fenders of the trailer. There are 5 heavy-duty canvas type snaps that attach each curtain to the fender. The fabric itself is color coordinated to match the trailer, and shaped to match the curvature of the fender. The material falls straight down from the fender to within 1 inch of the ground.

I have tire covers on mine -- bought 'em in Mesa at Camping World. Really, how much moisture is there around here? LOL. I haven't had a problem with moisture. I really do think the covers helped save my tires a LOT.

Oh, and I share your $tire pain$. I just got four new tires for my own trailer (they were the originals -- 8 years old!).

Lisa W-B, I had tire covers on the trailer & didn't have any problems cause it IS dry as a bone here.

The van's supposed to go up to CO this week, so I'll have some time to think about it all.

Tweety's usually has very good prices. I bought my B&W Turnover Ball Hitch from them. They were $30 below others and I had it in 2 days.
