Who is going to KWPN inspection or have been in the past?
I am planning on showing my foal and my mare. I have never been before and don't know what to expect. Any Suggestions? How should we prepare?
I am working on halter breaking the foal so that I don't have a wild colt on my hands when I get there other than that I am at a loss

thanks

They have everything all lined out for you on their website, but you should also get a packet from the host site either by email or in the mail once you have signed up.

I will be going. The foals will go loose, but very good idea to get them handling easy. Maybe even take them for a trailer ride if they have not been. Hire a professional handler for sure. Janko from VDL Stud in Holland is usually at all of them, but also the host site usually sends out information on who is available. Which site are you going to?

I was in your shoes last year! I know how you feel it's kind of intimidating. Everyone else is right about the website and your site sending out info.. but it's not the same. If you can go up the day before... do so! Ask lots of questions, everyone is really glad to help! A well behaved foal helps a lot just because there is usually lots of activity going on. Are you just presenting the foal or the mare too? The judges will tell you what they want you to do with your horse in the arena. Be prepared to be able to really run with your mare if you are showing her... you HAVE to be able to show off the movement. Janko does an excellent job but he is kind of pricey. I highly recommend braiding both mare and foal, makes them look really good. And you should work on catching your foal so you can show it without a halter... once again it's about looks... a loose floppy halter detracts from your foal. You will need another person with you both for handling your foal and just in general. Get ready in plenty of time in the morning so you can watch what's going on and get a feel for how things go. They try to keep eerythign running smoothly but don't let anyone rush you. Yes you don't want to hold things up but you are also there to show off your horses to the best you can.

Anything else I can help with? I took my colt last year but he was just not mature enough in comparison with the others and he received a second premium. By no means bad, but not what I had hoped for. I decided not to take him this year as he is just too growthy and funds are limited for me but I am taking his dam back for her star. I wasn't comfortable free jumping her last year even though she got her first premium. It was an amazing experience. I would go to watch even if I didn't have a horse to take.
