For anyone who uses (or is thinking about using) a Guardian mask, I found a company called Horsey Shades that makes masks that provide 90% UV protection (same as Guardian). They are about $45-60 (compared to $90-100 for the Guardian), depending on the model, and they don't have the bugged out eyes like the Guardian. They look pretty much like regular fly masks, but there are some different options you can use. I've heard they tend to stay put better and are much more durable than the Guardian Masks.

Their website is www.horseyshades.com.

Those are very interesting, thanks for sharing! I'm trying everything I can for Mia, who is a head shaker, but I have somewhat limited funds, and even the single pound buckets of eight different supplement to try gets super expensive!

Anyone know if there is much merit to the "magnetic therapy" mask idea? Head shaking is supposed to be worst when they're stressing... no UV + calm sounds like a good thing!

I'm also kind of a sucker for the colors and SHINY! But no ears...?

I actually ordered the magnetic one. I don't know if it will do anything, but it's only $5 more than the base model. The lady is really good about changing a mask to fit your needs, so I bet if you called her she could add ears to one.

They do look interesting. Eventinglvr have you actually purchased these? How are they holding up?

Thanks so much for the link. Guardian's unfortunately DON'T work for Gus, and there is no money back. So, I'm out $$$ for a usless fly mask (gonna try to sell it at the next tack swap). Definitely will look into these some more!

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if they fit warmbloods with protruding eyes? Might as well call and ask them.

ETA: hmmm no ears, but does seem to have eye darts.
But that faux fur and the bling would really heat up in our 98 degree weather!
Appychik, please try one and report back if they fit OK? Thanks.
