I am interested in offering my 19 y/o 15 hand QH gelding for a FREE lease within central Pennsylvania and possibly Maryland depending on the situation. He is a bay with 3 socks and a blaze and is stocky. I've always ridden him english, however he will definitely go western. I have owned this horse for the past 15 years and he is my absolute baby. The reason I am somewhat parting with him is due to lack of time due to my job and grad school. I am also trying to save some money right now which his hard when you are a horse owner! I prefer him to go to an experienced adult rider (he's good with kids, although will respond better to an adult), who will give him a lesurely life of trail riding and relaxing. He is 100% sound (always has been) and is very capable of being ridden, however over the years he's done his part running around the ring at horse shows and deserves a break. I want his life to be "low key". I want someone who will give him plenty of attention and who really takes pride in taking care of his/her horse. This guy would make a great "husband horse", trail horse, and/or companion horse. I'll put anyone on him...he's carried around small kids, and even my boyfriend who has never ridden a horse before. He's also been used in pony rides. He is always "in the middle" when it comes to the pecking order in the fields and I've never had a problem with him getting along with other horses. He stands excellent for the farrier, clips, loads, bathes, and will ride by himself with no problems. I use a snaffle on him and he knows riding commands well. He's an easy keeper as far as feeding goes too. I have been thinking about this "free lease" option for months and have finally gotten the guts to offer him out. I want to be able to keep tabs on him just because he's been mine for so long, (and I'll miss him at first) however other than that the ideal person can treat him as his/her own. I really just want him to go to someone who will take care of him and give him plenty of attention. I will require references preferably from the vet/farrier. For more information and for pictures, please email me at mgeorgepa@comcast.net. We will go from there!
