In the Blood Horse:

No MassCap for Suffolk Downs in 2009 (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/51324/no-masscap-for-suffolk-downs-in-2009)

“It's a difficult decision because it means so much to the loyal racing fans of New England and to everyone at the track, but our partnership does not think we can responsibly incur the expense of the MassCap when we are fighting to save jobs and maintain current purse levels for the horsemen who are here every day," said Richard Fields, Suffolk Downs’ principal shareholder.

:sigh:

That is very disappointing, but I do understand the reasoning. Similar to the decision on to run the Pimlico Special. I had a great time last year on MassCap day. maybe I'll just have to come out there for some "random weekend" for no reason at all!

You should go, Linny. We can commiserate about how much we hate toxipedic foam mattresses, amongst other topics.

That goes for everyone else too. (Well, almost everyone anyway. :uhoh: ) Y'all should go to Suffolk, randomly, more often.

Hey, my brother's coming up to visit for the Fourth of July and on Saturday, we're leaving the concert at the hatch shell to all the people dumb enough to crowd down there and hitting the track! (For a start, he just made $30 at Belmont, his home track, and last MassCap day I lost $4, so he needs to give me tips.) COTH Fourth meetup at Suffolk?

And :( on no MassCap. Like Boston doesn't suck enough as it is.
