After watching the video link in the Molokai thread (and Molokai also is amazing!)...Im totally in love with this horse Sassy Reason. Wow, what a jumper - please can someone tell me more about him/her? Breeding? history? Achievements? Is he/she still alive?
Anyone know where I can find more footage of him/her?
Thanks!

I believe that is the horse he won Burghley on in 93' or 94'. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong and confirm the date.

Sassy Reason was a son of Limit to Reason and a grandson of Hail to Reason. Pedigree is here (http://www.pedigreequery.com/sassy+reason).
Goes back to Pilate on both sides. Interesting.
Sassy Reason was a very cool horse.

Sassy Reason was lovely to look at, and was a class horse. As lovely in person as on film!

Sassy Reason died a few years ago. It was in the obit section of the COTH. I have the article somewhere. Sassy was found for Stephen Bradley by a man named Joe Hickey. Joe and his wife live outside Middleburg and care for a large herd of retired horses, including one of mine. Really great horse people. I wish I could remember the specific story of how/where he found Sassy. If I talk to him in the next day or two I will ask.

Bruce Davidson won it in 1974 on Irish Cap.

Sassy was owned and brought along by a lovely lady who was a friend of mine back in the 80's. In fact, we competed together in Area III. I am pretty sure she lived in Tennessee, and Jim Graham was the link that caused us to know each other...he coached all of us at the various area events. Anyway, she brought Sassy through the prelim level, and then Stephen took over the ride. She owned him throughout, as I remember a photo of her at Burghley when Sassy won, and she was still credited as the owner (or part-owner perhaps?).
He was an absolutely beautiful horse and highly talented, but not the easiest or bravest amateur ride. That's part of the reason he ended up as Stephen's ride. He really clicked with that horse and brought out the very best in him, and that made his owner really happy.

Oh....who was that? I live in area III and Tennessee, and used to ride with Jim.
And I will not forget the tactful ride he gave Sassy Reason in Barcelona!

I boarded with Ann Barrow (maiden name) and Sassy in the 80s in Plano, TX. We trained with Lois Lann who had worked with Bruce Davidson and therefore knew Stephen. Ann and Sassy moved from Plano to Atlanta in 1989 or so. I'm not sure when she moved Sassy up to Stephen's. He was always a difficult ride, but we all knew how special he was even at 4.
Ann was my connection to Stephen who sold my horse for me in 1990. She was gratious enough to travel with me and my gelding from Plano up to Stephen's place in VA.
I lost touch with Ann around 1995. If anyone has her contact information, please, please PM me.

Yep, Ann lived in Atlanta, not TN. I'm trying to think what her married name was but it is escaping me. I think this blasted heat is frying my brain.
