Hey all,
A good friend of mine just moved from So Cal to NC. She found a lovely barn for her horse, but it's a little far from her house...

SO, I thought, who could help her better than the fabulous peeps here on COTH in possibly finding a new facility closer to her home...

She's a newbie to COTH too, so be nice...

I'll let her post next to give the particulars of what she needs...

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
Seb :)

Thanks! I am located in the SW Charlotte area (near the airport sort of) and am looking for somewhere close to there - possibly even Fort Mill, SC area. Nothing too expensive or extravagant! Just a nice place with people who take good care of your horse and nice people to ride with. I am currently doing dressage with my young horse and would like to do some jumping in the future. Thanks!

I would highly recommend joining the area 2 adult riders then. There's a whole crew near you and they are all quite successful eventers.

I tell myself every spring, "it won;t be so bad, really, what is a little H&H? (heat & humididty) I will not whine about it" Long about late August, I whine:o
Glad to have you here

Welcome!
Once you get settled, come on over to Tryon and FENCE for some schooling and showing fun! It's an hour 20 minutes from FENCE to the Charlotte airport, baring traffic issues.

Welcome to Charlotte! :)

Would the area just south of the border on 521 be too far?

You might try Half Halt up in Cherryville- probably 45 minutes from the airport.
Ivy Ledonne is probably very close- not sure if she is moving to the Palisades or not, but her farm is in SW Charlotte.

This is a nice dressage barn. When I looked, they had some jumps.:

If Waxhaw is not too far to travel, I would recommend Fox Farms on Sims Road. Lauren takes great care of the horses and it is more adult orientated, if that matters. The facility is also very nice. The boarders are also great people to be around. No drama, just a good group of adults riding and having fun. Most of the boarders do dressage, but some also jump.

If 521 wouldn't be too far, maybe try Bill Calvert's (opposite the water tower just south of NC).... it is an adult hunter-type barn, care seems very good....

Oooo! I'm in the exact same boat. I'm moving to Charlotte next month and have frantically been looking for places to board. I'll be living near the panthers stadium. It's not too far from the airport. I think 15 minutes or so. Finding affordable pasture board within a reasonable distance is like searching for the holy grail. I had the perfect place all lined up but they started having lots of problems with the land lord and are moving barns. The new barn is about an hours drive! Ugh. Anyway, check out the thread I posted on Off Course asking about places to board. I also posted a thread on NCHorsenews.com. Carolinahorseandhound.com has an extensive listing of boarding barns. Also, keep an eye on craigs list. I also have a list of places that I have looked into that I can send you if you would like. Just say the word. Oh, and welcome to the board! :)

Rivenoak, will the funds be available to those offering CCN*'s as well?

I would check with Carolina country store in Ft. Mill. They have a book of boarding facility and fliers posted about boarding. 803-547-5146 also newhorse.com has barns listed in the area.

Welcome to the Charlotte area!
