Is anyone going? Has anyone been?

I am worried about the stream. Last time I took my horse trailriding he would not cross a creek. He is fine with water complexes, but forget that stream! Can someone tell me about this stream? Is it moving water? How big is it?

I can't wait!

What level are you going? They changed the courses so if you are going Training or Prelim it doesn't look like you have to cross it now. Just the lower levels. Go figure. Yes, it's flowing but it's small and if they haven't had much rain which is likely in Aug. it should be quite small. It's got a good rock bottom, the footing in and out is fine. It's after the water so your horse will have already gotten his feet wet and it isn't flagged so if your horse has problems it will just cost you time. If you've been to Briar Fox it is NOTHING like the creek you have to go thru there.

It's a fun event. Hope to see you there!

Prelim you have to cross a stream.... Just training that doesn't. The stream size depends upon the amount of rain, but its small enough that most horses can jump it as if it is a ditch.

Thanks so much! We are going BN. I am going to try to do a couple trail rides before then and get him across a stream. Thats what I was hoping, is that we won't have much rain leading up to it and it will be pretty well dried out.

My name is Morgan and my horse's name is Colorado Cielo! Come say hi!

Can you tell me if there have been many changes to the novice and training courses since last year? I ran novice last year and was thinking of training this year - it would be our first, and if the course has been made tougher, maybe I'll wait.

Thanks,

www.catalpacorner.org has course maps on their website. They did make some changes to the training course. Not sure if it's necessarily harder but they have some new fences. I think the water is a log drop in and there is a full coffin which I'm not sure was there last year. The whole course is run backwards so instead of the steps up, you ride them down and there is a bank up, 2 -3 strides to a jump. It has some good questions but it should be fun. I just schooled there on Sun. so I got a good look at it. :)

have not attempted a double bank down, and we tend to leap off the single banks. I will have to see if I can find one to try. The log into water should be ok. I know the stadium was pretty challenging last year too. That cow jump on the side of the little hill got quite a few.

Thanks
