Good beginner saddle?

I am new to english riding. I would like to know a good multi purpose english saddle for trail rides and possibly jumping.

Check out the Thorowgood saddles. They are synthetic and very comfortable. Dover carrys them and if you are near one of their stores, they have some on sale.

I'm a Stubben fan. You can find used VSDs (a general purpose saddle) for reasonable prices. Sometimes you can find used Scouts (a GP saddle also suitable for trail work) but they are pretty rare.
