I had a great time at Upperville, but I was lucky and got to show on Wednesday before all the storms. My horse got good ribbons with both me and my trainer, but we did end up scratching on Thursday...I rode in a severe storm there last year and swore to myself that I would never put me or my horse at risk like that again! Upperville is by far my favorite show when the weather is nice, and it is by far the worst show when it starts to rain!...I wonder if they are considering putting all weather footing in the rings? I know they have to have lost a ton of money the past two years...I heard entries were down 40% this year.

I've never been. But I really enjoyed watching the live coverage on the internet. Looks like a beautiful show as long as the sun is shining.

We had a great time this year!!
My filly won Non-TB Foal Class, so of course I have nothing but good things to say. The footing looked pretty icky for the horses that were showing O/F. This is bad that two years in a row were such a mess.

Well I showed in the juniors and the 3'6" warmup day was nice because the weather was good and the footing wasn't too beat up yet. However when it came time to show in the juniors the footing was HORRIBLE. It is a fun show and I love going but I wish they would go ahead and make the necessary improvements since it has rained almost every year for a couple years now. Its fun but can get dangerous!!

That little braided tail was not easy! She was only six weeks old going to Upperville and didn't have much hair at all. My fingers hurt just thinking about it.

I can imagine. But it paid off.

Wednesday was gorgeous if you sat in the shade :) There was a light breeze.
Lockemeadows, congratulations on your filly! I usually go to watch the breeding classes but we left for vacation on Thursday.

Chelsea (the mare) is 18 years old this year and still looks like a million bucks. She's priceless. This was her 5th foal to win at Upperville. She's produced a top IHF Finisher as well as two Green Hunters; one who has gone on to do the Large Childrens and Big Eq stuff.

Horserider12- If you want, you can post pictures from your facebook. When you click on a picture at the bottom of the page there is a link you can copy and paste. It says to share this photo with other people. It only shows the picture, not any of your stuff on facebook.
Hope that makes sense! He looks LOVELY!!

Thank you. yes, it was a long drive for him to decide to not stand still for the judge! It was his first overnighter, so good experience for him.

My parents headed to Upperville with our 3 your old gelding intending to do the breeding, was 3rd at Devon and is a nice horse. About 2 hours outside of Upperville the truck BLEW UP!!! horses in trailer, on the side of the highway! We had friends come resuce them , turned horses out at their house and truck went to the mechanic, its STILL THERE! horses have moved onto my cousins farm in TN where they were going anyway after Upperville, trailer is still in friends pasture! all in all not a great Upperville experience this year LOL!!

Probably wouldn't count on footing improvements at Upperville...for sure it needs to be done but the owner of the place more than likely would not want anything other than the grass that is there. I know this because my father is his estate manager.

I was super proud of my filly who placed well in the 3 year old class, besting 7 other lovely 3 year olds. There was only one filly ahead of her in the placings!
Naturally I think she is fabulous: http://www.herselffarm.com/images/DazUpperville.jpg
