Heart Land Horse Rescue would like to find Louie a new home. He is a 3 year old TB gelding who was starved and as a result, is stunted. He still has a long way to go, but we would like to start the process of finding his forever home. Has gained alot of weight, needs more filling out and muscling at this point. About 14.1 hands, if he stays pony size, would make a very elegant pony hunter. Or perfect for petite woman for a dressage prospect. Would benefit from natural horsemanhip for a few more months before breaking. Has gone from being scared and unable to look at you to now hanging head over stall door and first to greet me at the gate! Every day we make progress. Would love to find his forever home where he can bond with his new owner. Training will continue until that happens. Will waive adoption fee to a COTHer. We need to make room for the next rescue and want to see him in a good home! Pictures on our website: www.heartlandhorserescue.org

We measured Louie yesterday and he is 14.2 1/2 at the rump, so no pony prospect for him. Would love to find him a home soon!! He is really turning into a lover! Would be great for petite person. We really need to make room for new rescues!

Lori can you post some pix so people can see him? That might help him find a home.
And measure him at the withers. Do ponies lose their pony status if they are rump high?

There are pics of him on our website under For Adoptions. He is 14.2 at the withers but 14.2 1/2 at the rump.

He is gorgeous! drool. Just wanted people to know I rescued a 15.3 hand 5 yr old TB mare and she now is around 16.1-2 as a 9 yr old.
Louie is very cute! Wish I had the money for him as I would snap him up in a min!

Well, you are in Florida...we could get him to you!
I am so mad..I had 2 people send me references, saying they wanted to adopt him, then never heard from them again. How irritating! I really need to get him to a home, he has been kicked out of the barn and I hate having horses on pasture only during the summer due to our storms.

Lori,
I would take Louie in a HEARTBEAT if I could get hubby to agree. A small horse would be perfect but I don't have room. Two of the PMU fillies I have were very untouchable as weanlings but are now the most closely bonded to me. . . at least thay are more obvious about it than my (older) TBs! Yep, NH works. . . for those who understand the timing.
I will ask around, but most people I know are either 1) not into green horses or 2) already have too many.
Good luck. . . if anything changes I'll let you know. . .

I will take him if someone can get him to me in Wellborn.
I am a sucker for small, starved TBs and my 3yr homebred could use a buddy.

Very cute. He gives the impression of being much bigger. I think he is very athletic!
SFIR - are you taking him? Let us know how he is doing...

I had to think about what you were talking about! Nevermind the mud, it started to lightning again, that was when I booked it back to the barn. And nevermind the pants..they are scrubs from work!

I am going to give him time to settle in and grow up some more but I will post his progress on the eventing forum once he starts doing something.
He has the most adorable personality and was really kicking up his heels this morning at turnout. He is in a huge field with tons of grass and a girlfriend.
I am very happy with him.
Ruthie
BTW I was very happily surprised at his pedigree. Some amazing sporthorse producing sires in his pedigree...
