In 2006 I worked for one of the big equine hospitals in Kentucky. We had a maiden mare and her baby in the NICU and then later in the isolation barn. The little colt made a huge impression on me and i enjoyed every minute i spent in his stall (i was just a lowly stall cleaner at the time). I used to take an extra couple minutes and love him and play with him. Out of all the horses i saw go through there he is the only one i remember. I couldn't sleep tonight and was working on my resume which reminded me of him. After google-ing and running through a whole bunch of racing sites I found out he was sired by Honour and Glory, is named Chandas, and according to equibase he is unraced. In 2007 he was sold at the september keenland sale to Turtle Bird Farm with Occidental Thoroughbreds acting as agent. If anyone has any information on this horse I'd love to know what he is doing now, why he wasn't raced, if he needs a home etc etc. I had nicknamed him Trouble when he was in the hospital b/c he refused to stay on his bed, pulled his IV out more than once, and used to chase me around the stall while i was cleaning it. I realize this is long and rambly and the odds of anyone knowing anything about him are remote, but i thought i'd ask.

I'm sorry I don't have any information about your colt, but I just wanted to say that on two occasions we have had to send young foals and their dams for stays at Hagyard (I figure you were either there or at Rood & Riddle :)) and both times when we went to see them, we were happy to discover that the staff and the vet techs were treating them like pets and giving them plenty of attention. It was great to see that even in a busy hospital setting, they were receiving personal care. So I just wanted to let you know that even though you didn't meet your colts owners, I'm sure that they appreciated your extra efforts with him.

A suggestion, if you don't mind putting in a few phone calls. Turtle Bird Stable is owned by Harvey Weinstein and, at least as of Feb. 2009, its manager was Carol Seaver. She was featured in a New York Racing Association web story written by Ashley Herriman, whom I'm betting is/was employed by the NYRA publicity office and probably could put you in touch with Seaver. Turtle Bird had at least some of their horses with Steve Asmussen earlier this year.
Occidental Thoroughbreds is owned by Andre and Trish Regard; their contact information is on their website at http://http://www.occidentalthoroughbreds.com/contact-us.shtml.
Chandas had works published in 2008, the last one being on Sept. 17, 2008, all in NY at Belmont. Good luck with your search!

Seconding what LaurieB said. I've had horses in both Hagyard and Rood and Riddle, and the staff were always terrific!

We so rarely hear great compliments such as these. Its nice to hear that our hard work actually is appreciated. I got a compliment on what a fantastic job I was doing with a mare owned by a very BN Farm. I'm still glowing about it. So thanks again for the nice compliments.
Sorry to be OT...
