Good idea or bad? Nothing else I've done has gotten them quite clean, even though they're wiped down after every ride!

I had a friend who used to regularly put her helmet in the dishwasher with no problems. We put the girths and boots ion the laundry once a year (no dryer or detergent)....seems to do the trick. The diswasher is nothing more than spray hot water but I would not let it go thru a drying cycle!

put them in the regular washing machine  that way you can hang them out on a railing or something to dry--it wouldn't be a good idea to allow the dish washer to dry the boots for you! (prob. shrink, even though it's not fabric, yano?)

I use the washer machine a lot for boots, brushes, saddle blankets, etc. I have put buckets and bits in the dish washer (no dry cycle).

Thanks a bunch! I'll try the washing machine first and we'll see how that goes!

I would skip the dishwasher. I remove the liners, hose them off, ring them out, and then throw them in the washing machine. I let them air dry, or if I need them super fast, I throw them in the dryer. I've never had a problem cleaning them this way.
