Hi,

My family and I are moving to Frederick, MD at the end of this month. I am an adult rider that started riding at an older age, but have been riding on and off for at least 10 years. (I'm in my late 30's) I used to do some local showing in Ohio, as well as some rated shows, but not too much into the show circuit. I did mostly 2'6"- 3' foot jumpers, but I haven't jumped a course in a LONG time. I have had a couple of horses, but currently find myself horse-less. I have been living in Rhode Island for the last couple of years, and been doing a lot of catch-riding (mostly trail-riding) in Dover, MA.

I would very much like to get back into jumping and taking some lessons to help me get back into doing some local shows and maybe some cross-country, if I'm feeling brave enough :) Eventually, I would like to be able to lease a horse (within the next 6 months) and hopefully, within a year buy a horse that will be able to do some local showing as well as trail riding.

Can anyone recomment barns near Frederick, MD?

Thanks!

Check the Equiery - the website has a boarding stable directory. You can find some locations near you and narrow the search/ask about specific barns. You can pick up a paper copy when you arrive and there will be even more ads/info about barns and trainers. (I've been in TX for a while so I don't really have any more specific info to offer.)

Good luck with the move!

Ditto, You shouldn't have a difficult time finding a barn /program w/ your criteria. I grew up riding in that area and there are so many nice facilities.
Good luck

One you might consider is http://www.urbanaridingclub.com/

The owner is a friend of a friend. I haven't been there, but I know she goes to a lot of H/J shows, has a XC course, has a lease program, and hosts clinics occasionally with a BNT event rider.
