My dressage time is on Saturday at 1pm. Cross country time is at 9:38 on Sunday. I just love riding my dressage test, during the hottest part of the day.
I noticed that some of the riders in my division have Friday morning ride times. Would they be the pony clubbers who are there for the mega rally?
The weather looks to be hot and humid. It is supposed to be in the 90's on Friday, with a cool down into the 80's on the weekend. At least, we got somewhat acclimated to the weather at Spring Run.
Don't forget to bring fans for your horse and you.

Auburn, we must be riding in the same division. My dressage is 12:48 Saturday and x-c is 9:34 on Sunday. For my horse, dressage in the hottest part of the day isn't such a bad idea ;)

I see a pony clubber on Friday, and non-pony clubber on Saturday, so I bet you're right.

I think Pony Club rules require only one phase per day.

Of all the luck... :( My horse torqued his back on Tuesday, so I had the vet chiropractor out to fix him then last night we had a very strong thunderstorm hit our farm, ripping the flashing off one end of the barn and taking out a HUGE old oak tree at my neighbor's. We have power lines down across our road and no way for me to get the horse trailer safely out this morning. Of all the reasons to scratch! Now I have this to add to my roster of reasons- once had a horse with a sprained tail (they just don't move right when their tails are outta whack!) and now power lines down just across my part of the dead end road. Is this a sign?? I hope everyone else has a good show!!!

You were the one I was wondering about when I woke up at 5:30 to really scary wind and lightning and torrential, but short downpour. Lost electricity for a few hours and just now got the internet back. Sorry to hear you missed it. Hope everything is okay where you are and that you're not stuck for long.

What a well run show! Thank you so much to the Organizers and Volunteers for putting on a great event. Now, if they could only do something about the heat and humidity.....:D
As for me, Tess got a 33.5 on her dressage test. Our dressage judge was Susan Posner. We finished on our dressage score and won the OBN Div. 3. :)
The only glitch was on Friday. I pulled up to the Secretaries Booth to find my stall number and get my packet. While I was doing this, Tess jumped the chest bar and was standing in the hanging hay manger.:eek::eek:
Fortunately, a couple of good friends were nearby and heard my calls for help. They got several men to come and try to release the chest bar. They got it released, but Tess was still standing in the hanging hay manger. Finally, her weight was enough to break the chains and they pushed her back into the trailer, put up the chest bar and closed the door. Holy Cow! I did not stop shaking for 30 minutes.
If any of the men who helped me are on this board, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Tess and me. I love Eventers! You can always count on them in a crisis.
Anyone else have any crazy mishaps?

I know I shook for a long time after Dub tried to come out under the butt bar in trailer training. I'm so glad we both seem to have eventually sensible mares (after they cause us a heart attack). Congrats for winning your division. Wish I could've seen you, but I have barn duties on weekends and save my much sweating for home (which I'm sure would be appreciated). Don't make this a preshow good luck habit thingie!

Well, our weekend was pretty good, Not what I had planned but still good.
I got a call on Thursday morning saying we weren't qualified for prelim under the new rules so we did training instead. I still don't quite understand why we weren't qualified, We got the E at our 1st prelim because I didn't ride, then I fell off my horse for the 1st time at our 2nd. We went back and did 2 trainings, and I thought because we had jumped clear at both of those trainings we were re-qualified for prelim.
I guess not, for some reason we needed 1 more.
So we were put into OT2
So I was really really disappointed, we were so ready for prelim B. I hate that training B test and I didn't get to practice it and I felt like I didn't know the test well enough to have a really nice ride.
And it made it worse on friday when I rode around and he was so good. we would have knocked it out of the park. But ohwell.
We had an ok test, He wasn't there with me and I didn't have the connection and movement from him that I wanted. we scored a 41.6 which for him is pretty good, but it could have been so so much better. I wasn't happy with the test at all, but he was more relaxed then he's been in the past which was good.
Cross country was fun, we ran it really fast, I let him pick the pace and off we went. I was excited about the corner! The photographer got a really cool picture of us but the scanner isn't working. We went clear.
Our stadium round was lovely. He was very hunter-esque, it was probably by far our nicest round, he always just wants to go, but he let me ride him, and it was just a really nice flowing calm ride . We had 5 time penalties and 1 rail that I caused because I let him get a little fast.
We ended up in 5th.
I also was the warm up ring steward on Saturday for the BN stadium. I saw a lot of nice horses and riders. I had a lot of fun!
So, it was a good really REALLY hot weekend!

Hey Mickey,
Do you remember a large, older woman on a cute bay mare, number 258? I was the one who said, "Thank you for volunteering!"? (Hopefully, many more of us told you the same thing, so you do not remember us.) You did a great job of keeping everyone on time. Congrats on your 5th place. :)

Mariequi,
I definitely do not want to make what happened, "a pre-show good luck habit thingie"! How Tess did not end up at Rood and Riddle again is something of a miracle. If those nice men had not been there and kept much cooler heads, than I, Tess probably would have seriously injured herself. While she was standing in the hanging manger, she was also trying to stick her head under the escape door, presumably to escape. I had that happen to a friend of mine. Her horse got stuck with his front end out of the escape door and his hind end still in the trailer. This is why I was a crazy, freaking out lunatic. A friend of mine, Tracey Corey, was smart enough to pull me away from the trailer, so that the men could solve the problem.
Congrats to Tracey for her win at MidSouth on Super Nova.

FC...what crummy luck.
Congrats to everyone else!
I stopped by Saturday for about an hour, in between errands and chores. I knew I shouldn't have done this, but I stopped at Southern States and bought about ten bags of shavings prior to stopping at KHP. The shavings were laying in the bed of the truck so you had to look in the bed to see them. And my truck is a F350 4x4 with a lift, so you have to be pretty tall (or determined) to look in the bed.
When I got back to my truck, I looked in the back, and can you believe it? Someone stole a bag of shavings out of my truck! I think the only reason they didn't steal more is because Southern States had spilled fertilizer over them and they were stick and nasty to handle.
Oh well.

I had a ball on my mare with our personal best everything- warm ups, dressage, stadium round, XC run...
We landed in seventh, but I feel 100% ready to move up and thats what we were there for!
We got the greatest comment from my coach in warmup for stadium. I jumped the oxer twice and she just shrugged and said "My advice for the day? Just ride everything like that." :D
My favorite fence was that little drop log on BN, with the sharp right hand turn to the house? Never mind the fences were tiny, I had a flash of Rolex glory when I landed off that drop and made the turn then asked for more gas to the next two!
Nevermind that I had to trot from the water to home to make it in three seconds over speed fault time!

F2F, that bites!! You'd think that shavings would be safe, especially in your truck :( Congratulations Auburn!!! I'm sorry we missed you this weekend- you would have creamed us in the dressage. Tess IS back :) Hey Mickey, it sounds like a good weekend at training.

Didn't get to say hi to many people but loves watching ya'll on XC! Hopefully no one here was the girl who ended up over the Time Limit on Training because she totallly missed the finish line. There were some really good rides out there!

I think that might have been a friend of a friend of mine. She felt like an idiot, but came to tell me before she packed up and went home. She wasn't too upset- said everything else before that was good enough!

I was there as "mom" support for my daughter. It was a great event! I'm very proud of my daughter - she finished 3rd in Training 1 division, finishing on her best dressage score to date. She was the very small teenager riding her gray OTTB (Grayboo). I don't know how she keeps her nerves in check but she never seems to be nervous before cross country or stadium. The cross country couse was fabululous. She's contemplating a move up to prelim this year, so was happy to have the corner on course.
Thanks to all of the volunteers and organizers. We always enjoy this event!

I think so, but I got really tired from standing in the sun. But I had a lot of fun! Some people's warm ups didn't make since to me... but whatever.

Anyone know who the photographer(s) was/were? I have a friend whose horse did their first training and never has success finding the pictures online. I told him I'd get right on it!
