I have to get brave and make the right decision, but I am almost 100% sure that I will have a nurse mare for a young foal (her's is 3 days) as of today. If you need one, she has lots of milk, and is very maternal.
Call or email, as I am not going to be hanging on chat boards today.

He was euthanised at noon. Too many preemie issues. Very crappy day. His recipient mare dam is understandably beside herself, so would like to find her a situation where she can help another foal ( not that I want anyone to lose a mare)
Also have to send my 25 yr old Gepard-Adlerorden mare over the ridge. That will be tomorrow.
She is such a nice horse, we will miss her.

I am so sorry. I just spoke to you on the phone about my own little concerns and had not read this. What an awful day for you. I had no idea!

I'm so, so sorry for your loss!
It's VERY generous of you to think of someone else at this time, and knowing how much she could help someone, I hope that your mare will find a match.
Wishing you some peace at this difficult time...

Thank you everybody. It is proving to be a tough week, but being human, I can at least understand what is going on.
Quatermile's dam is still wild with sorrow. I have sent her to a friend's where she wont have to look at newborns for a few weeks to recover, and will go see her today, seems she is very upset. ( Of course).
And Golden Moon, well she has had a good life, I think. She sure was happy during the time I have had the privilege to own her. She is a very happy mare, cheerful, and nice to all creatures.
I got her from V Tech, I really recommend them if you are looking for good breeding stock.
We got a great Bratt Z filly thanks to her, and two embryos by Landor S, one of which is going to be implanted into the above mentioned dam in a month or so.
Quatermile was Quaterback-Feiner Stern. He was an ET.
I am not afraid of ET, I lived with a top specialist in that field for 3 years.
Anyway, off to feed the gang, thank you for your thoughts.

Godspeed to your colt, and to the mare, and hugs to you. If Golden Moon was sired by Golden Miller, then I know that mare (we had her and one of her foals at our Oldenburg inspection quite a few years back). Kudos to you for taking care of her in her old age, and for letting her go with grace and dignity. I hope your Landor S embryos work out for you.
