Jr. Johnson did it again with his Nob Hill duo. What beautiful horses!! Huge congrats to Hunter Rider for her win with Oak Hill. I can't wait to see him go under saddle.
Preacher did OK today, but he's still down in weight after being gelded last month. I jumped the gun and got him back in the ring a little too soon.
We did walk away with one good ribbon. My filly won the Non-TB foal class. It was a good size class and she showed really well. I still can't believe it. There were some very, very nice babies in the class.

Our yearling filly As di Ani Z (by As di Villagana (HAN), out of our TB mare, Camille, who is by Prize Ring) was second in the Yearling Other Than TB Fillies! It was her first time in the ring! Junior, of course, did a great job, she jogged beautifully, and by the end of the class had learned how to stand up nicely!
I am not only thrilled with her results, but also that her first experience was such a positive one!

YAY!!! I'm so glad Junior was available to show your Ani! It allowed you to enjoy and watch, plus give her a wonderful experience!
It was great seeing you yesterday!
CONGRATS to Hunter Rider, Junior and Laurie!

I was already really pleased to hear Junior pay Ani a huge compliment, when upon seeing her this morning- for the first time- he said "she's REALLY pretty!" And that was before she was pinned!
(I always thought she was, but...I'm her mom, ;) )

It's funny that as much weight as we all put on the results at big shows like Upperville, sometimes that nice comment from a well established handler means just as much!

My lovely 3 year old homebred, G. Beda'czzled Herself made her debut in Hunter Breeding with a very respectable 7th in a class of 14. She was handled to perfection by Chip Leonard. Special thanks to Karen Severns who helped me with a braider and Chip, who handled Legaczy at Devon.
Gorgeous show grounds, everyone had a wonderful time.
AshKnoll's gorgeous grey gelding placed well in the nice yearling class.
Congrats to Karen on the nice win by the Legaczy son, Mackenzie who placed 2nd in the foal class.

HR12! I spotted you several times and wanted to get over to say hello, but wasn't able to! I was thinking of you driving all the way down and back, and could have offered you a layover--next time you come, let's make a plan to at least meet up at the snack stand!
This was our girl's second outing (we did a dress rehearsal at Locke Meadows a couple weeks ago), and she was keeping us on our toes!

We just got back tonight from watching the Grand Prix, and after a full week-end of watching both the pony breeding and hunter breeding. I must say that I have never seen so mcuh MUD in my life! So many beautiful horses and ponies. LockeMeadows- I saw your filly and she was outstanding in her foal class. That was a very tough class to pin. Congratulations. I too am a big fan of Nob Hill, after watching his babies in the Get of Sire Class, that was just wonderful to watch. He is sure stamping his babies. Oak Hill is looking more and more like his sire as he matures, and what a gorgeous mover he is. When he jogged across the ring, everyone was amazed at how well he moved. Junior sure knows how to show those babies on the line, he is definately a class act! Congratulations to everyone who won today. I thought the competition was very tough in each and every class we watched. I thoroughly enjoyed wacthing the breeding classes today.:)

Thank you!! I'm still on cloud nine. DH and I were talking on the way home. There were several outstanding babies in the class and we would have been just as happy to get a third or fourth behind them. My filly is only six weeks old and I was afraid she would be much smaller than the babies born in Feb/March. Her mane and tail sure were hard to braid!
LadybugHill took some fantastic pictures of Sinsational and e-mailed them to me. I can't thank Chris enough!! Here are just a few:

Maybe I have missed it but is there a list of the entries and their placings from the non TB breeding division at Upperville??? I looked at the photos Chris had taken which are really great, but don't have a clue as to who the horses are and who they belong to. Anyone know who the lady in a pink shirt and white pants may be??? She handled more than one nice bay.

I'm sure you did have a hard time letting her go! She really is spectacular.
I think you have an excellent approach to a solid breeding program for our times. A limited number of extremely well planned crosses resulting in very high quality offspring and a good, well established client base.
But that topic should be a thread of it's own. ;)

Thank you for the kind words. It does take time to establish a breeding program along with a client base. I agree it would be a good topic for another thread!!:) I did breed my mare back to QB on her 30 day heat but it did not take, so that is one reason for no foals this year, the other mare had a protruding cyst which prevented a pregnancy, had the laser surgery which didn't work so she is in the retired group of mares on my farm. I have two good mares to breed but haven't accomplised anything yet this year and time is running out!

I had never done it before. Between getting our filly ready, getting there, and getting back, I was flat out exhausted. And we only had ONE. All I can think is that with practice, it must get easier!
This is the one I like most that Chris got of ours...she's standing under herself in front, but at that stage I was thankful that she had four feet touching the ground! She started out by going up! By the time the class finished, Junior had taught her how to do it perfectly (for him)!
http://photosbychristolar.shutterfly.com/1378#1378
I didn't have much luck with getting her just right when we went back in later on (he obviously had higher priorities, and took them in), but I did get a momentarily acceptable pose in between the carryings on.LOL no one mistook me for an experienced handler, that's for sure!

I was very excited to find him for our client, even though we were looking for a pony foal for her, not a horse. It was one of those moments where once we saw him, we couldn't live without him. It's been a fun road so far with Rolley and I am really looking forward to showing him for the next few years, especially under saddle when the time comes.

I am the breeder of Drum Roll Please. Thanks for all the wonderful compliments. The mom is an exceptional Feiner Stern mare who has now produced three beautiful colts. The first two De Feiner Star (3 yr. old stallion, chest. with tons of chrome 3rd at Dressage at Devon two yr. olds) and Rolley are by DeLaurentis and were both named stallion prospects at their inspections.
This year's colt, a gorgeous bay with a star is by Sinatra Song. I expect great things from him (if I don't sell him first!).
The mare stamps her head and expression on all her babies. She is truly a fanastic broodmare.

Try the USEF horse search, if the horses are USEF registered the sire and dam will appear on the results page :)

All competing horses need to be USEF ID'd or recorded, but whether USEF will have processed the applications for foals might be....problematic? Maybe in a month or two...
