I was previously under the impression that those of us up in the great white north here couldn't get rejuvinaide from Progressive Nutrition. I have heard it touted here time and again and I found out that we actually can have it shipped up here. We have a 6 day old colt that is a bit windswept and on confinement for two weeks so would love to try to get some of this into him. What are the feeding recommendations? Those of you who do use it, what do you use it for and when? What are your thoughts on it for ALD'S??
Thanks!

Heartland Vet Supply used to have it also. I give it to my foals with and w/o leg issues. Feeding instructions vary if you get the paste or drench. I have the big bottle of drench, and it says 5cc per 100lbs for severe leg issues.
Good luck with your foal!
I think Foal Aide is a similar product from Buckeye, might be more accessible up there.

I have used Buckeye Foal Aide with fabulous results but I don't believe we can get it in Canada now. Rejuvenaide is pretty much the same and if you can get it, it's well worth the effort.

I have had a long talk withthe folks at Progressive about Rejuvinaide, which I love.
Apparently the person that was instrumental at Buckeye (regarding the Foal Aide) left to go to Progressive and created Rejuvinaide. Back story there..........
At any rate, my farrier suggested I use it last year when I had a foal that was growing at a rate faster that we had ever seen in the 40+ years of foaling, and my farrier thought he was "out growing his feet" to quote him.
Rejuvinaide gives amazing support to all sorts of issues apparently and I'm a fan. You will love it. I used the paste, but it comes in a liquid too, I believe.

I have only used foal aide but I understand the two products are virtually identical. I will never have a foal without it if I can help it. The stuff is awesome.

I just ordered a some, I had a colt born yesterday with fairly contracted tendons, and thought this might be helpful. Would also like to learn more about it, and any success stories the members of COTH might be able to share

I have used Buckeye Foal Aide for many years and this year switched to Rejuvenaide when I switched to the Progressive Balancer. Both are great products to keep fast growing babies growing safely.

That is almost a direct quote from the folks at Progressive. My colt from '08 has to be the fastest growing baby we have ever raised. Seriously.
The folks at Progressive were awesome discussing the benefits he would get with Rejuvinaide.

I have used reguvinate for 3 years. It is great but it gets pricy afer the foal is a few weeks old. Check out their Foal's First (Purple bag) it has the reguvinate in it as well as a milk pellet!!. I just creep the foals and they get all the extra minerals they need!!! In fact, just started a 1 month old tonight. Just gave her a little by hand until she was hooked, then slowly showed her where the creep feeder was!! Bingo!! If you foal is not eating solids yet (ie hay or trying to eat moms grain) you might have to use the paste for a week or so until they start "eating on their own" I use it now on all the foals whether they have "issues" or not.

Thanks guys,
We don't usually creep feed the foals as they tend to eat some of mommas which is basically a low starch , high fat and protein feed that is safe for fast growing foals and then when they are weaned we give them their own. I imagine the paste would be best for us at this point and then the drench for later? I am having a heck of a time getting this ordered and it is going to cost alot to get a case sent up here ASAP so not sure if I should go with a case of the liquid or paste?? Can a person just syringe the liquid?

Yes. I have used both, although I prefer the paste (in case they decide to spit it at you, the paste sticks to their tongue vs the liquid!)
