How can the two emotions be so mixed together ... !
The boy I lost in November, the 21st, is still alive in his first son of the season, born this morning at 2:00 am.
No pictures yet ... and I'm not sure I want to invade the owner's privacy, but I'm so happy ... and soooooooo sad.

You aren't a wuss at all. Anyone would be broken up at such a loss. Huge congrats on the new baby. I hope you get pics soon. Hugs...

I am truly blessed to have a son and a daughter of my Best Girl that I lost. It is so bittersweet when they raise their head, 'just so...' or move or look in a way that resembles her.
Five years and it still *catches* me. Not a thing wrong with that, IMO...

Isn't it bittersweet?
It's so hard when we loose "the one", but seeing him live on through a beautiful colt is priceless.

I just saw his pictures! A bay like Dad, with a similar face ... but a little more white. I'll ask permission to post a picture ... maybe Dad and Son together.

Foal number two has been born ... I don't want to give out the owners name, but he gave me permission to post a short video of mama and daughter. All I can say is ... tears of joy! Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/lv23day
And here is my favorite picture of my beloved boy...thank you, again, Reg. You captured his personality perfectly!

So do I!! Did you notice the little kick she gave to her Mom at the end of the clip? Apparently, she is VERY opinionated ... just like her Mom. Please jingle for her ... she had to have some surgery...
OH, and I almost forgot! She has the same white "kiss of the prophet on the off hind heel... the emblem of swiftness" that the Godolphin Arabian had!!! (King of the Wind, The Story of the Godolphin Arabian by Marguerite Henry :)) WHICH, by the way, was one of his sires (on Omni's side, granted a few years back!!!)
She was bred by an eventer ... and I can just see that girl going around a course ...
And as long as I'm being nostalgic, here is my favorite picture of Mr. Dickens (Daddy was Omni) with Mom on his first day out ... last year.

And here's a picture of his first 2009 son ... thank you, Miss Dee Dee. :-) I think what he seems to pass on ... I don't know so I could be wrong ... was a good loin connection and some long long long legs.
