So if you
a) Love full chaps
b) Especially blingy ones
but
a) love your fanchyschamntsy saddle
b) think chaps over breeches looks dumb....
What on earth do you ride in?
Would buffalo leather hold up to chaps + jeans?

I ride in my buffalo dressage saddle in jeans and chaps and haven't seen wear yet, but my big butt probably protects the saddle from the crotch seam.
I wouldn't dream of wearing jeans on the calf skin jumping saddle. I threatened the trainer's life once when she was going to borrow my saddle to try it (she probably rode in jeans anyway, she always does). So I would go the breeches/chaps route (I do have a big butt--you just have to pick a mutted color for the breeches and hope for the best).
I do ride a tb, but I'm too lazy to ride in two point all the time...I mean that would lead to a smaller butt and then the jean seam would become an issue...

The fact that I love my fancy full chaps does not prevent me from leaving them carefully folded at the bottom of my tack trunk, where they've not seen the light of day for years, and where they are never in any danger of coming into contact with my beloved saddle. Not even when I had a full buffalo fancyschmantsy saddle, and definitely not with my calfskin Butet.
So, to answer your question, I ride in breeches and fancy custom half chaps. If/when I miss my bling, I wear a belt with one of my awesome blingy belt buckles. :)

I've got a calf skin saddle that I've ridden in for about 2 years now. I only wear jeans and full chaps. I simply clean the saddle, paying special care to the pommel and making sure that it is properly conditioned and see no real wear on it.

Ditto. I've never had a problem with my calfskin saddle in jeans and i've had it since 2002.

yeah, I'm thinking about the vast majority of pros I know who have french saddles and nevereverever wear breeches unless they are showing. Granted they do wear through their saddles faster than I have, but then again they live in the saddle whereas I live in this chair at this desk.
My butet is a '98 model and I have tentative plans to get the seat replaced next winter, but it really doesn't need it yet, I just thought I would schedule it and get it done while it's on my schedule/budget and not because it needs to be done.

I think it also depends on the rider. I've never worn anything but jeans for schooling on my fancyshmancyeurosaddle, or on my butet, and have never even seen one wear mark.
A friend rode in her jeans 5 times and saw significant wear.

If you're a pommel-humper, like myself, everyday breeches are a godsend.
If you DON'T tip and jump ahead like I do, you probably have more options :)

My saddle is buffalo, I school and trail ride in full chaps (also buffalo!) and can't see any exceptional wear. The seat is buffalo suede, so it is extra tough too.

Have a calfskin saddle. Ride in full chaps over irideon boot cut tights. Do not have any marks on my pommel and I get to wear my bling!

Buy Ariat Tek-Denim breeches or another brand of riding breeches that are made without a center seam.
