We worked so hard on the Devon souvenirs this year and I am so proud of how they came out. I had to share photos...

Vineyard Vines custom bags, belts, and ties
This is the tip of the iceberg of what we have. We have so much stuff, it's actually slightly ridiculous. The anorak and equestrian items (saddle pads, baby pads, polos) were my special project-- so I really hope they sell well. If you're coming to the show, stop by and say "hi" and check everything out!!!

I am so glad y'all like the stuff. It's hard working in a vacuum all year. We put all this time and effort in the items, and then hold our breath to find out if people LIKE them. I mean, you think you know tastes-- but you never know for sure. So it's really a good feeling to hear from people that they like the items.
All the baseball hats, including the bit hat(which we couldn't source and had hand made!) are $20.
The ribbon flip flops are $35, although we also have black embossed leather ones I didn't photograph. Those are $45. We have very little stock of flip flips.

Isn't it interesting that the Devon logo sports a breed that is fighting for the survival of just a few classes at that show.
The items look great - that just caught my eye.

The hackney is the classic Devon logo, it is a shame there aren't more folks showing hacknets (and ASB, and other underepresented classes/breeds) at Devon. I wrote an article about the history of the hackney and Devon with lots of terrific input from Janet Crawford Hicks (who also contributed photos/illustrations). It ran in today's Main Line Times and Suburban Times. I would be thrilled if the hackney classes had more entries!

I was impressed with the number of new items at the souvenir booth this year -- They're also offering a next day mongramming service, so you can get the baby pads, polos, or saddle pads done if you're going to be at the show for at least 2 days --

Thanks for all the compliments... we worked hard. I did the design work on that anorak myself, not too bad for an english/communications major with no formal graphic design training. Thank goodness for our AWESOME embroidered who held my hand the entire way and has such an eye for design. The model for that loffy embroidery is my beloved horse Somerset. :)
The souvenir booth is right at the start of the country fair, across from sodas and near the main gate. You can't miss it. We take Visa and Mastercard. :) Gladly.
I am excited about the tote bag/saddle pad monogramming. It's reasonably priced too-- $5/item. Not sure she can do polos, but I know she'll do totes and saddle pads. And the quick turnaround is awesome too.
I would consider buying items and shipping them to COTHers on a limited basis and only if you're 100% sure what you want and ready to commit. Devon has me busy enough, being online fulfilment of 1000s of internet orders would send me over the edge. I would try to help you out, on a limited basis, if you really want something specific and are willing to pay for it/pay to ship it.

I did get back there today to do some shopping- twice!
I thought I was done after the first visit, and then... I thought of a couple of people at home who need baseball hats!
There was a huge assortment of cool stuff, and the volunteers were super- very nice and helpful.

Completely overwhelming response!!!! I'm sorry guys, I can't take anymore orders for anyone else (unless we've already chatted). I am very sorry, I didn't expect THAT many people to email/PM me. On top of Devon (where I'll put in close to 30 hours/week) I have a REGULAR full time job and taking care of the horses. I can squeeze in a little time to buy and ship stuff but I am overwhelmed! I am happy everyone likes the items, maybe next year we can implement an official online ordering system.

That would be so wonderful if there was an online ordering system. I'm in love with the Vineyard Vines tote bag, but alas, I left PA for Boston 2 weeks ago! Please do what you can to bring them back next year--my goal for relocating to PA was to check out Devon at least once, so I have every intention of being there next year.
Great job on everything!

Thank you very much. We worked so hard, it was all worthwhile when people said "I have to have this XYZ" or "this is a nice souvenir for a horse show." Those anoraks man... I have to order 50 or so of them and ship them out next week. Good thing I don't have any hobbies!
The show really wants to get a website setup for online ordering. I think the problem is finding someone to run it all the time. It would be really nice to have it, I agree.

It was my first year volunteering, and it was really fun! People really loved everything this year, I can't believe how many things we sold. Personally, if I could have bought several more of the fashion tees before they sold out :( I would have! Especially the beautiful white one with the black bits. I'm so mad I missed that one!!
Great group of volunteers, great way to participate in the show, and a super selection of gifts and souvenirs!

What can I say? We have the best volunteers at all at the souvenir booth ;)
I agree, we needed to get more of those fashion tees. Part of the problem was just getting supplies of them. That bit tee-- the place we got it from only had about 50 or so of them MADE. By the time we found the item and arranged for them to print "Devon" on it... there wasn't time to get any more! I think, due to the economy, suppliers are keeping less "stock" on hand-- so unless you have a really long lead time (which we don't) sometimes you're stuck with what they have on hand. Those were pretty, I was bummed we sold out so quickly!

V: Everything looked beautiful- I am bummed I didn't get a blue hooded sweatshirt they sold out before I got there. Replaced my round car magnet this year and did other damage at the souvenir booth it was all beautiful. Wish I'd have seen you, I asked for you a few times alas no one home.....

867-5309, I am so sorry I missed you. This year was crazier and busier than ever for me. I did both souvenirs and PR and I was all over the place. I meant to stop by and see you, I just let the time get away from me. Next year :(

We were there on Friday. I drooled over the saddle pads and that lovely picnic basket. I did wind up buying one of the black Devon tees and reluctantly passed on the saddle pad. Such nice things, I love Devon.
The only gripe I have is what did they do the Devon fudge this year? Hard as a brick. I thought it was just me until another long time Devon spectator complained about the same thing.
vxf111
Jun. 2, 2009, 09:17 AM
Devon fudge was the same recipe as always. That being said, the humidity when you make the fudge has a huge impact on the finished product. The weather was a bit uncooperative during this year's fudge-a-thon, IIRC. I though the fudge I bought was a little on the dried/hard side too-- though it didn't stop me one bit from scarfing it down!!!
