Devon fries are the best! Although Devon fudge can be frozen and enjoyed all year. Tough call.

My son played one of the games when he was little, he won a toy pony and we named it Devon, of course. He wanted the clown, I said NO! I'm so bad. Bad Mamma!

It was an ugly clown too.

I wish they sold pizza fritas, love that darn fried pizza dough. They always have it at St. Anthony's carnival in Wilmington and I like it better than funnel cake which is second choice. I don't care how much powdered sugar I wear, maybe I should wear a white top, the horses will love me.

I'll be there with my mare in the 7/8 Year Olds!

Unfortunately I won't be able to stay for the Grand Prix, but I'm definitely going to watch all that I can between the two days I'm there :)

I bought my favotite of all time hat at one of the vendors many years ago (wish I could remember the name....who's there this year??). It was a black straw panama with different hat bands.
It's been redyed three times......and I really need another. Couldn't make it to the show, although I wish I were there..............it's a wonderful show, and some great shopping too!!

Don't forget to stop by the Merry Go Round Room and say hi to Joy! She'll probably have one of her rescued dogs with her. She has a rescue for puppy mill dogs called Adorable Adoptables. She's been a staple at Devon for years. She used to have a shop in Unionville too.

Really sloppy is an understatment. The ring looked more like a lake with a little bit of sand. I had two stops because my poor horse couldn't get his feet out of the mud.:( Doesn't look like it will be any better tomorrow, thunderstorms are coming thru.:(

But overall it was a awesome day, and beside the two stops the horse was amazing, so I'm still happy.

The horse I'm riding tomorrow had a problem getting her lead changes in the slop. It was AWFUL! So glad my trainer was riding today and not me :)

Does anyone know for sure if the Dixon Oval is being used today? Went to the show yesterday and everything was shut down because of the rain from Thursday night. It rained again last night and I don't want to make that trip again if there are problems with footing!

AO's are scheduled to start in a few minutes in the Dixon Oval. Footing is better this morning but not great.

Just for an update:

Day 2 of locals was much better. In the morning the footing was still wet, but not nearly as bad as yesturday. It dried up nicley in the afternoon. I had an amazing trip in the stakes class.:D Only pros pinned in that class, but I got reserve, which they didn't mention in any other class.:D And I'm just a junior! So overall good day.:)

OK- I am dying to know- what time did the Locals get over? Must have been unreal.

Also, does anyone know how they handle adding the day, etc. with USEF. Besides the logistical nighmares for the horse show, the riders and staff, etc., and heck, even the shippers, I can't imagine how much fun they are having now!

The locals got done at a reasonable time. We got out of there at about four, with packing up and loading.(Was in section C. Also didn't do the fox hunter class) The footing was a little better on day 2, but was still not great. It started to get really deep and sticky in some places. Overall it was a really good day today except for my owner to ride trip on my new horse. I ended up reserve in section A and champion in section c.

I saw on Equisearch that they got permission from USEF to add they day. I'm sure there are a lot of not happy people!

I saw your trips..they were awesome! Congrats :)

My horse actually loved the slop the first day, but the second day right when I went in for my stakes trip in section C, the trumpet in the other ring started playing, then the circus music, and then all the saddlebreds galloped in and everyone started whooping and yelling and whistling right after I went over the first jump. It was SOO incredibly loud and the worst possible timing in the world! Oh well, my horse is still young and I don't blame him for being scared out of his mind!

We had someone do the fox hunter class (she won actually!) and we got out of there around 6:00 with packing up and everything.

That sucks. I heard that had happened to someone else too. Maybe that was you? I went about half way through section A so there was not a lot of commotion going on except that both A/O hunters and the locals were schooling and that was a little hectic. My trip went really well so I was happy. It was my first time riding at Devon so I had a lot of fun. Good job to everyone else who rode! :)

It was probably me..it was the first class of the Saddlebreds. One trip before or probably even one trip after and I probably would have been okay, but it was just so incredibly LOUD lol. Oh well, it gave him experience!
