Well obviously you are not to blame here! I mean that Mare SCREAMED I"M A HUNTER TAKE ME HOME NOW in a demanding whinny that threw you to the ground and momentarily left you nodding to the question , So do you want her or not? Apparently the race horse owner , ( used to the auction format ) took this to mean YES. Then while still in a daze you literally ran into the bay whose well muscled brick $hit house of a body sent you to your knees whereby that trainer believed you were begging for the horse, took pity on you and said OK lady if you really want him that bad , here , he’ yours .. Seriously I think you pegged both their futures correctly , Congrats Good Luck .. I hear there’s a wonderful all OTTB show in Virginia next month , I think you could be ready for it

Gosh don't you HATE IT when that happens! Last summer I took my trailer on a trip to buy one horse and brought back THREE! But you know two heads (or three!) are better than one!! That way you always have a bckup right?! Good looking horses and that mare is a real eye popper!

Looks like it was buy one get one free day at the track! Don't feel to bad this has happened to me as well. Go to buy one and low and behold for today...and today only......he comes with his buddy.
Seriously though went to the track once, picked up our horse, driving out, trainer stops us hey look at this horse. Pulls out a hunk of a 4 year old, slightly sore but nothing wrong hands us x-rays and lead rope. Ok we have a 3 horse trailer throw him in. Closing back door and another trainer walks around the corner with another horse......too slow for the track.....can't afford feed......going to give to first person with trailer leaving the track. Yeah it was a good thing we only brought the 3 horse instead of the 6 or we would have been in BIG trouble.
BTW: Just brush up on your acting lessons and act all surprised when a second one comes off the trailer if your hubby is around. It couldn't possibly be your fault if somebody put an extra horse in there right? Come on its an easy mistake!

Just act surprised, then bat your eyelashes and say "Poor unwanted baby, someone must have just stuck him in there. We can't send him away now!". You know, like when someone drops off a puppy at the end of the driveway ;)

If hubby isn't horsey maybe he wont notice that there are two. Like when they use several horses in one role in a movie and they are not marked the same. Just say "No honey, I bought one bay horse...doodeeedoodeedoo..."

Or blame it on PMS which your still having , that way he will back off slowly
If this board tries hard enough I am sure they could come up with 101 reasons why I ended up with Two horse instead of 1. I'll start off. ( I suggest everyone copy and paste this list as we all KNOW we will need it someday).
Reason # 1) PMS
Reason # 2) I only left the trailer open for a minute!
Reason # 3) No No , I bought him for a friend , They'll pick him up soon ...
Reason # 4) ?

That Lady mare is heinous . . . luckily for you, a stall just opened up here. You can send her along; I will take her off your hands so you don't have to look at her every day. ;):D
Seriously they are both STUNNING. Congrats! I saw Lady on the CANTER website a few days ago and thought "Ahh with some extra funds . . ." Have fun with both of them! :D

You weasle. How will you ever choose which one to ride first? I would take one out, put him in the crossties, look at him, and just HAVE to go get the other out too. Brush brush brush, Oh! You want some bwuthing too? OK! Brush brush brush. OH! You want a carroth? Why didn't I think of that! I just happen to have two right here! Crunch crunch crunch. Now, little mare, shall I saddle you up or do you want to watch first? Who wants to longe? Come on you two, aren't you glad we're all friends? I only wish I could ride both of you at the same time!! Lets go explore the woods! Only, I am sorry to say I can only take one of you. I know! I'll get my best freind to come!! We'll be in pig's heaven!!

LOL! I have been pondering how I am going to manage both.. I normally only have one I am riding so this should be interesting.
I can't wait to get them home! I am already shopping too - they both have new halters, fly sheets, new saddles pads.. etc.. :)

THEY ARE HERE!!! Kris is a bit nervous but starting to settle down - Lady walked into her stall and started eating hay like she had been there her whole life!!
They are a little waspy looking due to the trip but otherwise seem in good health.
The Gelding is even larger than he looks and the mare is very fine boned..
I cant wait to get on them but going to give it a few days!! WHOO HOOO!

I have been drooling over that mare- they both came from Teddy Jackson right? I spoke to her one time when I was shopping canter (she had already sold the horse that I called about) but she was a super nice lady and seemed to really care about her horses!

Yep they are at MPF.. they both actually look pretty awful right now.. poor kids..
The gelding was completely undone when he got there but he has settled now.
She is too stiff to do much but she is eating her hay.

I think it was just the trip.

please consider giving them more than a few days off--shipping a horse across the country after being in race training (and hard training probably!) is really, really tough on them.

I dont have any intention of doing anything with them for a while... I meant she gets to get out of her stall for a little handwalking.. nothing more strenous than that.
the gelding is getting daily paddock turnout since he is in better shap.e
