Wondering if anyone has used USEF Member Perks to buy a John Deere product? If so, could you share information on how the process works? Where to find information on how much discount, and on what products?

Sorry, no help on John Deere- but I do use it for UPS shipping. My UPS office has no idea what USEF is or how to proces the discount. I showed hima print out with the discount and he jsut gives it to me every time I go in (quite a lot, since I am mailing a ribbon quilt just about every week). So, at the very least, print out the list of USEF discounts and show it to Deere and see what they do. They probably have a dummy code they can use. Best of luck!

That might work . . . but part of the reason I was asking is because I cannot seem to find out how much the discount is and on what products. Most of the other perks (like UPS, Hertz, etc.) tell you it is a certain amount off. I may be totally brain dead, but the John Deere one just seems vague to me. We need to get a new tractor, and wanted to see how much (if anything) we might be able to save here. Trying to comparison shop but it's a bit tricky without knowing more details. Like your problem with UPS, I am afraid if I call up John Deere they will have no idea what I am talking about. So I posted here in hopes of gathering details to fight my case with!

Several years ago a friend bought a Gator and used their USEF member discount. Said it saved her a good amount, more than her Lifetime membership purchased years ago!

I have no idea what hoops she had to go thru for the discount, but you should CERTAINLY ask for it on something like a tractor! Even filling out several papers, making a call or two, is worth the savings. I think they do percentages off the purchase price, which could add up to a substantial amount! Probably a limit someplace in there, so it is to your own benefit to find out all the details.

Maybe calling the USEF for the JD contact number to ask for details could help you. They advertise plenty, so there has to be a customer service number that will work with you for the JD discount. I would be calling around if I were getting any JD products, time spent on a couple calls is worth the money saved.

According to the memberperks card, it says a discount up to 23%. There was a post in the past year about someone using the membership discount and getting a great discount on their tractor - it might have been MagicRoseFarm but I don't remember for sure.

Well I have used most of the Perks discounts and all you need to do is call the Perks hotline, tell them which one you are interested in, and then they mail you what you need. For Sherwin Williams its a card with a barcode that they scan at purchase. UPS sends you a starter kit and you open an account, so all you do it give your account number and the discount is already applied. In the UPS they also give you a starter pack with pre-printed slips and boxes and other good info. I believe the John Deere is the same and they send you a certificate showing the discount code. Just call and they will tell you the % break you get per $ spent.

We used it, and think we had beaten the tractor dealer down so much he couldn't do much better...ended up getting another $500 or so off....not much when it was a cab 6400 series tractor!!

I got some percent off with the AQHA or NCHA discount on my JD gator, my big JD tractor and my Ford pickup.
All the dealers do is to call the AQHA, get a number for the discount and in a few days I had the checks.

Since these discounts don't cost the dealers, you should wait to mention them after you have a firm figure, if they don't just ask up front if you are a member.

I bet it will be similar to this, why not call USET yourself and ask?

Haven't used it for John Deere, but have for other things. I've always had to sign up for it with USEF each year. They can email you a form and you fill it out and fax it back, then they email you a bunch of stuff.

We did. I'm pretty sure it was 23% for our tractor, not as much on the gator, I believe USEF is the place to start.

The dealer gave us a better price without the discount than we would've gotten with the discount. This was in summer 2006, not sure how things are now.
