Should I wear breeches the first time while riding in my new saddle?

If you're thinking you might need to send it back--yes. Jeans may mar the finish.

to wear just flannel boxers when riding in a new saddle for the first time; the flannel polishes the new saddle quite nicely and it makes everyone watching you smile! It's ok if they're the christmas boxers but you get special bonus points if they are covered in hearts.

im done with sending saddles back. Plus my old trainer really likes the HDR's and said that I'll like it.

I would since breeches are smoother and have no inside seams. Jeans can be hard on saddles, so I wear breeches all the time anyway (and I find them much more comfortable)
I hope the saddle works out for you!

Nice idea but flannel boxers don't work for men while riding.. something about keeping the boys out of harms way

Silly me ... I thought the op was a girl without "the boys" to worry about. Boys should definitely wear tidy whities ... you have to be a little looser in the saddle to get the same shine as you do with the fuller coverage flannel boxers, but it can still be done.

What if it doesn't fit you and Beautiful? You should not rule out sending the saddle back if you have not even tried it. Remember the last saddle you bought?

I know, but as most of the posters here are female it is always fun to throw a perspective from a male rider once in a while. :D

I apologize to the OP ... I just realized after reading your previous posts that this might have been intended as a serious question. For some reason it just struck me as funny ... I mean, what else would you ride in your new saddle in? Then I noticed you also posted a poll asking what people ride in ... even when we ride in jeans, they are riding jeans that are more like breeches so we call them jean breeches (they aren't really denim ... just colored to look like it so the DD fits in with the rest of the kids she rides with better). I haven't ridden in regular jeans for probably 15 years ... every since I did it once and chapped the inside of my thighs and other areas not mentionable.
Therefore ... my first thought was what else would you ride in? And obviously decided that polishing said new saddle with flannel undies would be the next logical choice.

With a screen name "Tiffany", I think you are pretty safe in assuming the op is a girl!!

I certainly wouldn't count on definitely keeping it! It just might not fit you, and or your horse. I like A LOT of saddles, then I sit in them. and discover they just aren't gonna work for me, much less the horse!

Like I asked in your other post...does it fit your HORSE??
Have you had a saddler out to make sure???
And, IMHO, I think it's too small for you.

I had a HDR and it perched me way to forward in the saddle. Did you get a saddle fitter look at the saddle? I have gone through heck to get a saddle to fit me and my horse.

A. DO PLEASE make SURE it fits. Don't oil or otherwise alter the saddle until then.
B. Wear something you won't mind dye coming off the saddle on.

Echoing what the others said about fit (FOR YOUR HORSE) and adding that I always ride in breeches. I want to keep my saddle around for a while and definitely prefer breeches.

Can't comment on your saddle, but like I've said several times before, I love your horse...
