So my horse and I competed in our local circuit finals 3 weeks ago, and I finally got some good pictures from my friends. Wanted to share this awesome picture with everyone. We showed in the Child/Adult Jumpers and took 5th against nationally ranked juniors and adults. So proud of my horse, we've come so far! I'm such a proud mom!

Constructive criticism is welcome.

Cute jumper! Do you lease the horse? Or did you actually buy one of your own? I remember you were having trouble finding a barn that had decent lesson horses at one point.

Yes, how nice of you to remember! :D

I'm leasing him right now, he goes home soon and it will probably break my heart,, but he's been an amazing partner for me. I am now looking for something to bring to college with me.

you guys look really solid and he has such a cute jump!
there are two things that stick out at me.
The first is that your pinching with your knee a bit. your leg has fallen back just a littleeeee but more than that it has caused your upper body to go too far forward and your seat too far out of the saddle.
the second thing i see is that your elbows have popped out a bit, but by fixing your fold and staying closer to your saddle, the elbows will fix themselves.
i would work in 2-point and over the jumps keeping your butt closer to the saddle while still making sure you have an adequate release.
great pic and you guys look awesome!

I'll bet dollars to donuts this gal works in 2 point A LOT! :D I do think there's an emphasis these days on teaching riders to get close to the neck and stay with the crest release long after they've developed the skill to switch to the following hand. Might be something to look into, IB. ;)

I remember because I am from NJ, and I remember trying to think of some good suggestions for you, but they were down in Central Jersey and if I remember right, you are somewhat northern?

That's sad that he has to go back, I hope you have some luck finding a nice horse to bring to college.

Thanks! I do try to do at least 15 minutes no stirrup work every time I ride. I usually do an auto release, but I guess I just let my hands make their way up in this picture. ;)

Thanks! Yep, I'm up north, but I found a great trainer who I love and is amazing. She's the best. And thanks, if you see anything cute around here for cheap, let me know! :D
