Chief has been working as a pony horse. The very nice gal that is holding him for the photos is great with bringing horses along for this. She is so good at it that she has too many pony horses in training ;)nd she feels Chief would benefit from life away from the track as afternoons still get him kind of worried about racing.

He's really personable!

*I DO NOT NEED A CHESTNUT MARE*

I shall just keep repeating that.... I'm not even a mare person! But look at that face.

I love this guy too, I think he was listed in the fall as well?

I have a love/hate relationship with the FL listings.... so many lovely horses!!!!

Resistance is futile! You MUST have a chestnut mare!

I do not NEED a horse, I do not have a place to put a horse, I cannot afford to FEED a horse...but if I did/had/could, isn't he cute?

My landlord's tolerant, but he's not THAT tolerant!

Hm...I wonder if I could convince my bosses at the zoo that Children's Zoo, in addition to Crabby 26-year-old POA, cuddly pocket-pet pony, two minis, two mini-donks, and two incoming Poitou donkeys, REALLY NEEDS an OTTB. I would feed him and clean up after him and everything!

Stoooooop!

And what's with me? Normally it's all Chestnuts all the time, and that black 4 year old- WoW!
I guess black is the new chestnut?

Though the last chestnut with the blaze who appears sweeter than sweet...
This is torture!

I know Angela it is torture!

And WHY do I love that chestnut mare?!? What is wrong with me. I think I secretly could do another human baby if it was at all possible, but alas it is not, and thus.... am lusting after baby horses... ;)

My only hard-and-fast rule in regards to horses is-- one at a time! So no FL beasties coming home with me....

Someday when I win the lotto and have a farm I will just have OTTBs and they will probably not even have jobs except to sun themselves, eat, and look pretty...

I really like this little black horse!
Hey EqTrainer- doesn't he remind you of a little black horse in my barn?

Everyone needs a chestnut mare. They make great conversation pieces to boot. There's some real eye candy here. I like the pony lady's horses a lot :)

As Ted continues to tell me, "Once you have an OTTB, you never go back."

The "Pony Lady" does have nice horses. And, that chestnut mare is even prettier in person than she is in her pictures. I keep picturing her with a sidesaddle.

"Sir's" photos could do better by him - I can say that because I took the photos - he really seems to be a great big sweetie with a bit of a goobery personality;).

As for resisting these beauties.....if their photos drive you guys nuts imagine seeing them and touching their velvet noses! ;)

I can see both the small black gelding and the small [15.1hh] grey sidesaddle.
You guys are killin' me!

And Ted is sooo right, once you have a relationship with an OTTB, I don't see how you can top it.

If I had the room, Chief and

http://fltrainerlist.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=743 this guy would look rather nice together!

(and who can doubt Ted, after all it's straight from the horse's mouth!)

A lot of pretty ponies in the world, but my heart belongs to them thar crazy kidz off the track!

I promised myself that I would not look at any FL beasties until I thin the herd......

But as the proud owner of both a chestnut mare and smallish black gelding from Finger Lakes, I'd be happy to enable any of the rest of you ;)
Seriously, my FL beasuties have turned out to be the best young critters! They are very nice indeed - way better than I expected and quality horses by any standard

Beastieslave, just got back from feeding my 24 year old former FL TB... just a great horse!

BeastieSlave
May. 18, 2009, 09:52 PM
Yup....

And in doing my part as an enabler, I need to remind folks that it will probably cost less than you expect to bring a FL beastie home! If you think you want one, look into it.
There are great vets who will vet your horse for a very reasonable fee (I paid the same price for a basic vetting as my vets at home charge for just the farm call) and plenty of reasonable shipping options. Heck, I'm way down south off the beaten path and my beasties were a bargain to vet, buy, and ship

Go get 'em!!!

It's not the cost of vetting (if I bothered with a PPE for an OTTB) or even shipping--it's where to put one when he got here! Unless someone with a big field or a barn near Boston is feeling VERY chariatable I'm not going to be having one of my own for a while.

I really like this guy:

Love the AP Jet sons.. I have one that came from CANTER.

http://fltrainerlist.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=390

He is calling to me but I have the same issue as above - not the buying or shipping its the KEEPING. Ugh.

During the winter I went to go look at Oughta be a Jet, cute horse but the trainer was more interested in racing him again this year - seemed like a very nice honest guy. I tried out Radar Cay for a week - pretty straight forward horse, popped over fences has a huge bouncy trot and very uphill type mover. Pretty in your pocket sort of guy and sound with awesome feet (was barefoot). His trainer is such a sweet person too. I sort of kick myself for not buying him, since the horse I ended up with isn't exactly sound atm :|

I spoke to Radar's owner this winter when a friend of mine was looking for a horse. She was extremely nice and straightforward, and very honest about the horses she had available. He sounded like a great prospect for someone!
