Hubba asked me "are fillies allowed to be on Regumate during the races?". Yes or No?? I don't have a clue.

I was wondering the same thing. Do fillies/mares run when in heat???? Dumb question to those in the know - but surely that would upset the boys.
Also - these TC races are now steroid free, right?

Yes, they may. Some trainers use it and some don't.

Coincidental in a way that you ask this. Nellie Morse was the last filly to win the Preakness until RA. She ran in the Derby and I believe was favored, but she was in heat. Many think that affected her performance.

If you watched the Dubai World Cup in March, Indian Blessing was the favorite in the Sprint and she was in heat. Pre-race, when the entrants were circled for about 10 minutes behind the starting gate, Indian Blessing was kept off to one side until she could be brought forward and quickly loaded. She ran a good race and finished 2nd.

That was Nellie Flag, vs. one of the eventual TC winners.
We ran a filly yesterday who was in raging heat. She got so hot in the paddock the trainer told us to go cancel our tickets. She ran a good race but definitely not her best.

New question, this regards breeding a TB mare. Does the TB industry allow ET foals to be registered?

No. Jockey Club requires live cover only for registration.

I understand they require live cover. I'm curious about embryo transfers....If I bred Rachel A., does she have to carry the foal and go through labor??

Yes. The JC requires the "natural", "old fashioned" way for everything related to breeding.
