This might be a long shot, but I'll give it a try.

My mare with diagnosed up at Tuft's with Uveitis and I'm trying to find a CT Equine Ophthalmologist that makes farm calls OR a regular Vet who is experienced with eye/vision problems.

There is one in Norwalk, but will only travel a 45 minute radius from there.
And of course ;) I'm further east.

Thank you...

I'll ask around H2, there has to be one closer. If not, do you have access to a trailer to bring her to the vet?
Uveitis? Aw, that sucks. :( So sorry to hear your adorable girl has uveitis. That's the stinky part of these awesome spotted horses...the uveitis issue.

Here is the site American College of Veterinary Ophthalmalogists. Use the state abbreviation (CT) when searching. There are a few listed in the state.

Call Kit Miller who is buds with Mike Ball. Mike Ball is part of Early Winter Equine in Ithaca, NY. Mike specializes in opthomology.

Thanks guys -
There appears to be one in Wilton. I'll have to call and see if they work on horses.
The one in Norwalk will only make a farm call if it is with a 45 minute radius.

Ithaca is quite a haul. I highly doubt they would travel to southern CT.

M.B. - Unfortunately I don't have a trailer which makes it harder.
She has it in her right eye and I only found out during the spring shots examination. That is when I brought her to Tuft's to see a specialist. Uveitis plus a cataract. :( The eye meds have helped, plus a "Guardian Mask" which stays on 24/7, even when I ride.

She never exhibited symptoms except a slight shying away from familiar objects on the trail.

I was hoping to find a Vet who is *into* eyes.

Just praying that it does not go into her other eye...

No, don't come to Ithaca. Ask Kit Miller if he will look at your mare's eye and consult with Mike Ball. They do on tricky lameness cases, I think.

Our vet recommended 1 gram of MSM daily to control the inflammation for our apps with uveitis. That seemed to slow it right down.

H2, have you tried calling Fairfield Equine to see if they have any eye specialists or can recommend any? Fairfield Equine does travel to this area, I know two people (Killingworth and Guilford) who use them as regular vets and a few who have had specialists come out from there. They have a larger than average panel of specialists.

I started her on MSM, Flax and Grapeseed extract right after she was diagnosed.

Chief2, do you use the Guardian Masks also?

I just hope hope hope this Vet will make a farm call. Thanks Misty! :)

Misty is right. Call Dr. Bob Neff at FEA and get him to come look - he is great himself AND has a relationship with the top eye specialist at UPenn. Ask me how I know this.

Oh please tell me this particular Vet makes farm calls to Killingworth.

What problems did you have Lucassb? Where you happy with Dr. Neff?

Although, I'm afraid to ask what they charge for a farm call.
