Just got my spring vaccination bill. $50 for 1 Coggins!

Is that the new going rate??

Pulled out my old invoices--it's been $35 for the last two years.

My vet is fabulous, but her prices have always been on the high side....unfortunately, if routine services like this are getting jacked up too, I will have to switch to a new vet.

I want to say somewhere between $25-35 for just the Coggins (no farm call, other vaccs, etc). I live in central MN... pretty standard price around here, I think.

I forget. It's something like 50 or less, since I get a big vet bill with shots and coggins so I just pay it.
I do know that it was $20 in 2001, cause when I bought Callie the misplaced coggins did not show up, and the state agent made the seller pay me the $20.

I paid $35 for one and $55 for another just for the coggins- not the farm call.

Normally it is around 35. My regular vet had to cancel 3 times due to emergency calls/felt bad and suggested I call the bigger practice with more vets to get the thing done...he hated to cacel so much but he is in a small mixed practice. I am not particularly fond of The Big Practice for a number of reasons...but for the sake of the Coggins I decided to live with them. The Coggins was 35, the fam call was something average like 35, so no big deal. THEN there was the other fee on the bill. The 26.00 to overnight it to New Bolton. I have never ever had a vet charge me 26.00 postage to mail the test in..........

Not sure--every horse got something different this year, and I never ask the vet to itemize. :uhoh: Usually spring shots and Coggins runs around $120.

Last year was $49. I skipped it this spring, as my horse is now in a closed herd and low risk area.

I can not believe there is something that is cheaper here in NY, but ours are $22.

Was it a digital Coggins? They typically cost more. The yellow paper coggins cost less.

Mine was free. It's nice having a dad who's a vet :D.

I think the barn vet charges $25-ish.

I wish! Nope, just a good ol' paper Coggins (which I still have not received in the mail). I just couldn't believe it was $50.

All of the other vaccinations were either $25 or $30....total bill for farm call, spring vaccs and Coggins was $190. That's the most I've ever paid for shots.

I know my vet is pricier than others....hell, she charges me $100 for a bottle of injectable glucosamine. I could get it online for $50. But I didn't realize she was jacking up ALL her prices.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like, with a few exceptions, $50 is pretty high for this service. I have several friends who've left this particluar vet's practice in the last 6 months due to high prices....I think I will be joining them.
