So besides there being quite a few horses I am going to take a look at when I go...I was going through and noticed one that REALLY caught my eye.

So any guesses to how much he'll go for...here's his page:

http://www.fasigtipton.com/catalogs/2009/0518/107.pdf

Guess his value greatly increased after last Saturday!

I can see why he caught your eye!!! I bet his value has significantly increased since last Saturday. I'm VERY curious to hear what Hip 107 brings.

Please keep us posted!

Actually, I believe he was post-entered in the sale & became hip #107 when the original hip #107 scratched. I'm pretty sure I read it in the TB Times.

His owners are working on the 'strike while the iron's hot' theory.

Yes, you can tell he was just entered, since the Derby is already on the page.

Doesn't mean his value didn't increase. Though I could have sworn he was in there before, as there are only two from Yonaguska that are entered, and I remember there being 2 a few weeks ago (I have a Yonaguska already so I was looking).

and when is the sale. and will they do a live stream ?

SteeleRdr

May 18th and 19th. I believe there should be a live stream of the sale ring. Also later next week they should have the videos of the works online. "Under saddle" showings are scheduled for the 13th and 14th.

That colt was purchased at the OBS 2YO sale in March for $100,000. After the Derby, his new owner, Paul Saylor, decided to see if he could turn him around for a quick profit. And the fact that Musket Man (by Yonaguska) ran 3rd in the Derby doesn't hurt either his prospects either.

I'd imagine the price will be pretty high, otherwise Mr. Saylor plans to keep the colt and race him.

I'll be at the sale. We'll see if I pick anything up.

For those not there...there should be live streaming of the auction ring.

Ours is #244. He went in 11 flat, but very smoothly and the rider was still on him. He is a little horse but has a huge walk and is a very good mover...fingers crossed! Although he is a NY bred and after watching Mine That Bird fit through those little holes in the Derby I am getting more and more into the idea of racing him!

So I am watching the Live Feed. and wanted to know what all the Race Trainers / Breeders are thinking of the prices today ?
Do they seem on target or what?
any thoughts on this ...

Just stopped in to check this thread. Hip 107 went for $485,000.

There are a few that have gone for a lot more than I expected.

ONLY sold for $9500? Remember this is a racing sale.

Regardless of it being a racing sale, I don't think she was that well conformed! Her front legs did not look straight, and she seemed to toe out a lot.

Here is the thread about her just a few months ago: http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?p=3816034&highlight=splash+of+vanilla#post3816034

She sold for $14K then...they were either trying to "flip" her and thought they got a deal at Keeneland, or she's not going to race like they want. Don't know if she actually sold at $9500. We'll see tonight when they post the results.

She was a buy-back at $9,500.

I was disappointed that there weren't any Powerscourts at this sale. I've only seen 3 or 4 2 year olds undertack all year. That's a small sample to go off of!

I agree about the Powerscourts. We have a very nice Powerscourt 2 yr old colt, and are breeding his dam back this year. We also have on already in the oven. I feel certain that they will run, but I was hoping to see a few more out and about. I'm not too concerned however, as I expect that they will be better older horses.

Did you see her in person? I'm only asking because we saw her & spent time studying her yesterday & she was really pretty nice, but clearly in an awkward young horse growth spurt, which might have made her look worse than she is, at least in the pictures.

In fact, I remembered that prior thread about her and ALMOST took pictures because I thought she was so much nicer than that thread had led me to believe. Probably should have!:winkgrin:

When the auctioneer tells the buyers "If you look past her color" you'll see good conformation, you know he's seeing an uphill battle to get bids for a horse-of-color with no blacktype under her 1st 3 dams and almost none under her 4th.

There were a bunch of perfectly nice race-bred youngsters with much better paper & plain bay or chestnut or gray hair who didn't get as many bids in the ring as she did.

I did see her. I went yesterday in hopes of taking one home, but of course all the ones I had my eye on went well above my limit (which wasn't too low, but that's always the way it seems). I think when I said she toes out a lot, it was just more than my liking. I definitely looked past the color. Heck, I'm not a fan of chestnut fillies, and that was one that I did almost end up with!

Just wondering if you noticed any of the Domestic Dispute colts and I think there was a filly also?

Also, was the Tappit colt that sold so well on the 18th THAT nice?

To Me When I see these sales and the prices. IT is so hard to seperate my Hunter Show Ring experience with the Racing Industry. I have to realize that you guys go alot on Blood lines and family history. Where we look for nice, well put together horses anyplace. LOL.
IF I had not of just brought a Show Prospect . I would have been there to pick something up " affordable" and make a riding prospect and re-flipped it .
I love the ones with " Color" and " Bling" .. So my opinion is basis.. LOL....
Great sale to watch though.. Love Live Feed...

I'm seriously considering taking my filly to see him next year. I really like his conformation and feel like his stud fee is a deal. I love that line, and his line nicks extremely well with my Kafwain.

I did see one work earlier in the year who went for 60K. I thought that horse was impressive. The other few that I have seen have been so-so, but they were working out on dirt so it's hard to say.
