Hi!
I am looking to get back into dressage. I evented and took some dressage lessons when I was younger, but I have been doing jumpers lately.

My horse and I really need to get back to basics and I think dressage would be a great thing for both of us.

Does anyone know a good dressage trainer in the Marietta/Woodstock area. I would prefer someone who could come to my barn.

I am in the market for a trailer, so traveling to there barn is an option a little later.

I would highly recommend Gigi Nutter, she is very well respected. She will clinic at your barn, but you will have to get more people. She is wonderful at teaching the basics, is very knowledgeable and kind. www.touchngofarm.com.

Others that are good are: Allison Faso (may come to you, Andrea Manos (may travel to your area), Karen Lipp (you would need to trailer in), Go to www.gdcta.org links page.

You can PM me and I will tell you who to stay away from.

Good luck!

You might want to try Chris Erbskorn, I believe he is still at Tyson Farms (between Acworth and Woodstock) and he used to give lessons offsite.

Another recommendation for Gigi here. I had the pleasure of auditing her at PBJ Dressage in Columbus, OH and really enjoyed the experience. She is kind (I can't stand drill sergeant trainers) but effective.

Another vote for Allison Faso, Karen Lipp, and/or Andrea Manos.

Allison Faso is Milton/Alpharetta at Applewood - Allison sometimes travels for multiple horses at one location on a case by case basis depends on location and scheduling but most people trailer in if they do not board with her, Karen Lipp is in Canton at Top Hat Dressage owned by Christi Meyer. Andrea Manos I know teaches at a private barn convenient to Woodstock not sure if she travels or not.

but Kenn Acebal is in the Atlanta area. He comes down here to South Ga and he is a very good trainer. The horses AND riders love him down here. I highly recommend him.

GiGi is great but lives in Whitesburg, South of Atlanta and I think would only travel for clinics. Most of your more well-known trainers are going to require you to come to them though. Have also heard good things about Karen Lipp and Alison Fason. You may also try Sarah Hellner. She in Ballground but works with Karen Lipp and has been very successful with her horses and may come to you as I think she now wants to concentrate more on teaching and less on showing. Laura Wharton a Lancaster Oaks in Woodstock is also very good.
