Does anyone have any experience with Harley Brown Equestrian? I am considering boarding and training with them this coming September but I wanted to make sure he had a good reputation and solid training techniques. Thanks!:)

can't be a good rider unless you fall off !

probably every olympian has fallen off either at the olympics or at some other world-cup or national event, at some point in their life. i wouldn't say "im not going to ride with this person because they fell off! "

You mean like Meredith Michaels Beerbaum and Beezie Madden a couple of years ago... yeah, they suck too!

I think for that area you'd be hard pressed to find anyone better or at lease competing at the "A" shows at that level. There was a nice article about him in a magazine recetly; I think it was COTH?

He's a very nice guy, seems to have a good eye for horses (I base this on the fact that he always bought my former trainer's best sale horses!).

If his riding and teaching style work for you, go for it. He seems to get his riders and horses jumping big fences quite quickly. I have never been to his barn but his horses at the show always look nice and well-cared for. His horses and clients are successful.

I only know him casually as an acquaintance, but see no reason not to recommend him.

 what is that supposed to mean?!
I'm sure you didn't fall at the world cup... or maybe from your seat :D!

He participated to the World Cup = He is officially one of the world's best riders

Yes...he does seem to do that.

There's not many options in this area for H/J. Personally, he isn't one I would go too.

'Course local reputations can be brutal...no one escapes.

How funny, I'm also planning on boarding/training with Harley this fall. I don't know too much about him either though, but I've talked to a few people in the area who seem to like him.

Well, as I said, there aren't many options. Actually, I think he's the only 'A' showing H/J option aside from Kristen Hardin and I don't think she takes on clients...she's located about an hour away. Everything else that trains you to leap over things is eventing in nature.

My favorite H/J trainer of that level recently moved out of the area. It makes me very sad (even though I still couldn't afford to take lesson from her).

Welcome to the area...in the fall. It's a great place to go to school (and live for those of us that stuck around)

Yep! To be honest he doesn't excite me too much, but as you said there aren't a lot of options. It's going to be really hard to leave my current barn :(
