View Full Version : Another Season at Finger Lakes

Yesterday was the first day we did our walkabouts at Finger Lakes. We couldn't have had a more beautiful day, temperatures in the low 80's and a bright, sunny sky. On the first day, all of the volunteers were there, and we walked around renewing old acquaintances. It was good to see everybody again.
As far as new horses go, we are off to a spectacular start. We listed two, and both are drop dead gorgeous. Take a look for yourselves.
This is Satellite Problem. He's even nicer than his pictures indicate.

This is Machete. What a cutie, and as sweet as they come, besides.

We also got a PM yesterday from the lady who bought Whispering Bob last year. Be sure to take a look at his story, under Success Stories.

And, last but not least, there is a new mascot at one of the barns. Meet Oscar Meyer, a tiny and friendly potbellied pig.

Please wish all of us a successful year, finding new homes for these wonderful horses.

Very handsome boys. Someone needs to snatch them up.
What a nice update on Owen as well.I admired him last year and it is good to see him doing so well.

That first guy doesn't look 16.2 unless the man holding him is a giant!

Hah! There is a trainer at Finger Lakes who is well under 5 feet. We're always teasing her that she should hold all of the horses, so that they look bigger. However, cleartheoxer, this particular groom is very, very tall. We've got sticks on order, but until they come, we're eyeballing these guys. I'm 5' 7" and I couldn't look over this horse at the withers. We were being conservative when we said 16.2.

These two horses were a lovely start to our Finest season. The bay has a "look at me" type of expression and the chestnut is a beautiful lovebug.
Both of these horses have been well cared for and I must commend Satellite Problem's groom because this fellow knows how to turn out a horse. His horses always look tip-top even if they've just come out of the stall after a roll. His area of the shedrow is clean and organized and his strapwork and tack is always clean and well-conditioned.

Aww I remember Whispering Bob! So glad he has found such a lovely home.
Machete is adorable!
Can't believe the season is kicking off already! Louise, kudos to you and the rest of the clan for your hard work! Can't wait to see what pretty FL beasties will be available this year, hopefully a few find homes with COTHers. ;)

Satellite Problem's owner/trainer is the same person who had Devil's Whip last year. If Bearcat sees this, maybe she will tell you how great this trainer is to work with.

Machete is very handsome. He sure looks bigger than his posted height.
That is the cutest pot bellied pig I have ever seen. I think we need more photos of him.

Oh good! An excuse to visit Oscar Meyer to get more photographs! ;)
Machete was described to us as "tiny". He's not huge but people may be referring to his refinement. He's very stylish.

Shameless early morning bump for these two handsome guys! I was fortunate to be one of the people that spent that beautiful Saturday morning working the backside. These were two very easy descriptions to write this week. They truly are lovely boys. If I didn't have two of Fingerlakes Finest already, Satellite Problem would have been coming home with me. He has an amazing amount of presence, and was sweet to boot! Not to mention dapples that were incredible!

Wow, Machete is beautiful...but I am a sucker for chestnut with chrome!
I'm hoping we can get some work done on the farm this summer so I can bring home a few of these lovlies.
The entire experience getting Lola here was easy as pie and I highly reccomened it to anyone thinking...even if you are far away!
