It's a wide-angle lens. They give an exaggerated sense of motion, and filming through one can have the same effect on the cameraman. A telephoto lens has the opposite effect; you know you're moving but you don't seem to be going anywhere.

That was a nice seven to what looked like a liverpool. I could see the camera when the rider's shadow was visible. Looks cool!
