Just thought I check in regarding the status of registration papers for 2008 foals - should we be expecting them anytime soon?
Also, regarding this year's keuring schedule, I notice that the date range is posted (earlier dates this year) on the website, but no individual site dates, which would be extremely helpful for planning, especially for handlers, photographers, braiders, life in general - any guesses when we might have those dates posted?
And last, but certainly not least - do we have a status on Stallion Directory - especially with breeding season in full swing...
You have my appreciation for updates and all that goes into it.
Thanks!

Has anyone heard anything on these subjects, as BWP does not seem to be responding here, via e-mail either or any updates on website (that I've seen as of this a.m.). I thought I'd post here, thinking that perhaps others might be wondering the same thing.

Ronda of BWP is always super -responsive so I would suspect that she is unusually busy. You might try UnCouth BB as she posts there as well.

I have always had great response from all board members when calling or emailing.

Try Cheryll Frank as she is the registrar.

I don't think you should be expecting papers yet. It took more than a year to receive the passports for my mare and her first foal (2007), but thankfully they were correct when they finally arrived.
The BWP has figured out it takes a long time to get the passports done and sent out so last year they issued temporary papers for the 2008 foals they inspected.

Yes Portia is correct - all foals presented last year received temporary papers.
The keuring schedule should be posted on the web site soon and members will be receiving their newsletter with keuring info. The final keuring locations and dates are being confirmed.
All board members are busy preparing for the Spring meeting so there is lots going on - keep an eye out on the web site. There is a members meeting also and all are welcome also.
Also any one interested the BWP now has a STORE with very nice items for both members and their equine partner. Take a look and be ready for this years keuring.
Thanks

I say this b/c a friend of mine emailed BWP over a month ago about a foal she was looking to see about registering with BWP. No response at all. More than one email went out. Unsure if she called but she ended up going AHHA with the foal due to lack of response. So maybe there is an email issue there????

Yes, I have my certificate for last year's foal that I did receive at the keuring, and although I am not necessarily expecting my foal's papers anytime soon, I thought I'd ask for an update, along with the other perks of being a BWP member.
Thanks to Dee (BWP Secrectary), who was kind enough to respond with a little info regarding the keuring!
While I understand people are busy, I guess it could be nice as sort of a follow up/update/customer service thing for the BWP members, as I believe it's one of those things that doesn't take too much extra time to do, compared to the amount of time it would take to answer individual e-mails, posts, etc. (assuming that they are being answered) AND it may keep people (the members) happier - just my opinion though ;).

Why does it take so long to get papers and when will the 2008 temporary papers be replaced with 'real' papers?
I have a BWP stallion on my short list for this year but if getting papers will be an endless hassle I'll go elsewhere.
Borderline, It was nice to hear about the store and all but maybe a better marketing tactic would be to answer the question?
I've gotten papers from other registries in no more than 5 months.

I was told b/c the US breeders come after EU breeders so we wait till all of EU gets papers before we get ours. Now as to whether this is true, I don't know but I don't have reason to doubt it. 07 foals took over a year to get papers on so It made sense to me.

The keuring sites and information are nearly completed and will be posted to the website as soon they are received.
All inquiries that are received via "ask a question" are redirected and/or answered within 24 hours.
Generally, foals are inspected and registered into the registry that the mare is approved in. PTF do you have a mare who is keured into BWP or did you plan to present a mare and foal to BWP? Hope to see you at a keuring this year.
There is often a lag time with European papers.
Supporting the registry means contacting the necessary individuals directly to ask questions. As all of the Board members have e-mails and phone numbers posted on the web site, perhaps it is more prudent to use that direct communication rather than the COTH bulletin board?

In the case of my friend, she emailed a BWP board person directly and went unanswered. Just wanted to make that clear so there was no misunderstanding as to whether she went the appropriate avenue or not.

I would suggest using the phone when dealing with ALL registries.

I sent an inquiry using the "ask a question" over a week ago and did not receive any response within 24, 48 or even 72 hours afterwards. The e-mail address it came up with was: info@belgianwarmblood.com
I then resent the e-mail and cc'd Ronda, asking if she could point me in the right direction, since I had not received any response.
I haven't called yet, because I am aware that the BWP/NAD people seem to frequent COTH and thought that I might try this avenue before having to call to try to get some customer service.
I have to say that I agree with PineTree, especially if a member cannot get questions answered, it might make one wonder about getting an order through and receiving merchanise in time for an unknown keuring date.
I have also heard the same thing as Ponygirl with regards to the processing of the papers, which is very unfortunate.
With regards to the BWP/NAD membership meeting that is held in Indiana, is there a way for the rest of the membership (that does not live and/or is unable to travel to Indiana) to conference in?
Thank you.

This is not unique to the BWP. Some of the European Warmblood registries do take some time to get your papers if they are coming directly from Europe. Some of the European Warmblood registries have US "branches" who handle the issue of registration papers and I believe you get them quicker from these registries.
You have to remember Europeans are more laid back than Americans in their "time management". :) I would not "rule out" a nice stallion because of this. It is nice that they issue "temporary" papers until the "real" ones arrive.
I have had quick responses when emailing individuals on the BWP email list.

As a "European" myself let me assure you that the opposite is true! You may want to come up with a different excuse.... :-)

As a former resident of France and Belgium, let me add that it isn't time management , it's all those (wonderful) holidays!

Not trying to make excuses, just offering a possible explanation. :)

I too, lived in France for over a year. We also visit Europe just about yearly now and things are much more laid back than in the US -- thus why I referred to it as "time management". Not to say anything wrong with this, just typically different than in the US.

Let's just say, never try to get anything accomplished in Europe in August (so says the lawyer who practices international arbitration and has many European clients). ;)

Not sure when you sent the email, but can vouch for the fact that Ronda had multiple stallions at a local show this weekend and was spending a lot of time away from the computer.

I did get a PM from Ronda (thank you). Unfortunately it wasn't answers to any of my questions, but she did point me in the direction of contacting specific people individually with BWP/NAD for each question that I have.
Just to clarify again, I'm not necessarily expecting real registration papers anytime soon, but I guess it's nice for any registry to provide some follow up on things (such as papers, keuring schedules, etc.), especially if and when things possibly take a longer amount of time.
I believe that it helps to keep members happier during that limbo time and also reminds everyone that just because we don't always know what's going on in the background per se, that we know something is on the burner. I believe in the tough economic times, people are going to be looking at these finer details of everything and want value and that warm fuzzy feeling for every hard earned dollar that they are dishing out. For me personally, customer service is HUGE with the regards to the quality and professionism (besides just having it). I generally prefer not to patronize businesses (horse related or not) that cannot treat clients like they are their ONLY client, as I would expect the same of myself. Just my opinion.

Winsmore-- You are in CA also... Which site will you be at? What are you presenting? We have three mares to present this year and are still trying to decide which site to take them to. We also have a filly in central CA that we hoped to do the 2 yr futurity with.

Not sure if I can even make it this year - which is why I was really needing dates for sites, as we may be moving during that time. BUT I really do appreciate the dates being posted.
