Virginia Endurance Training Rides
The Old Dominion Endurance Rides will be hosting a distance training and conditioning weekend on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10th at the Old Dominion Endurance Rides, Inc. Base Camp in Orkney Springs, VA.
Whether you ride CTR, endurance at all levels, or are serious about trying endurance to see if it is the sport for you -- this weekend is loaded with fun -- camping, cookouts, trail riding. The rides are designed to give riders a chance to train with other riders and work on "training" issues
with their horses, teach your horse (and yourself!) all about camping overnight, try out your new equipment, new techniques, and just enjoy riding your horse on the gorgeous new trails that are now home to the Old Dominion 25/50/100 mile ride.
There will be several distances offered -- 12, 15, and 18 miles. If enough riders request it, we will also have a full 25 miles using the LD trail for the Old Dominion. All rides WILL BE GUIDED since it will take place in the George Washington Nat'l Forest. We will not be marking trails.
Please note: this is NOT a "pleasure ride" just ambling along at a pokey walk. This is a serious workout for distance conditioning. Horse will be expected to move along at a good trot pace and stay with the group at all times. All participating horses MUST be shod front and rear! If you want to use hoof boots, you need to contact the clinic organizer (chicamuxen1 (http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/member.php?u=104979)) for permission first.
Please PM chicamuxen1 (http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/member.php?u=104979) (Bonnie Snodgrass, Indian Head, Maryland) if you plan to come or have questions.
