Olympic Dressage Rider??

There is a woman that my boss thinks I should ride with on her horses. The woman is supposedly an 'Olympic Dressage Rider' from Canada named Pam. She is located in Franklin, KY.
Anybody know anything about her? Website? Pics? Info?

Are you thinking of Pam Bullington? I know she rides with Ed Rothkranz, who was a Canadian olympic rider is the 80's.

A lot of times people don't understand very well what a trainer's history is, they confuse the words "FEI", "Grand Prix" and "Olympic" and they don't understand the different levels, awards, competitions. You don't always get the straight poop from people about various trainers because most people can't tell others accurately what a trainer's done. A lady told me her neice was 'trying out for the Olympics at Gladstone' - the kid was riding training level on a backyard horse at a clinic. The kid had potential, but was not really an Olympic contender.

Very, very few Americans have actually been on an Olympic dressage team. 3 (or in past 4) people go every 4 years. In the past 50 years, that's 12 teams of 4, or 48 people in the USA. And quite a few people have gone multiple times so it's more like 35 or 40 people, most of them concentrated around DC and California/wintering in Fla. IN the whole USA.

A lot more people have tried to qualify.

Whether someone is an 'Olympic rider' or not probably doesn't matter if one is learning dressage/looking for lessons. There are a lot of good people out there who can teach but haven't gone to the Olympics.

Pam Goodrich is a Canadian dressage rider who has ridden at the top levels. She would be a little older. She might be doing clinics in that area.

Tami (Fleming) Crawford is in Franklin KY, I think and has been in the top 10 or 12 in the USA, trained with Robert Dover, I would guess she has been competing in dressage for 30 years.

crissa hoffman who trained Harry Callahan the GP American saddlebred is in KY.

Sue Kolstad is in KY. Reese Koffler is in KY. Susan Harris and Reese Koffler are USDF certified instructors. Kathy Priest, I think is still in KY. I can't remember anyone else.

I don't know of any Pams that have been on the Canadian Olympic Dressage team for the past 20 years. (I am in Canada).

I agree 100% with slc2's comment in regards to the many good teachers that haven't gone to the olympics. How do you think most of us afford lessons? :lol::D

It depends. If it was someone that really was a legitimate candidate to be in the Olympics, it would be a mistake to work with anyone who wasn't a part of that world.

I haven't known of anyone named Pam that as on the Canadian Dressage team. Being from Canada I personally know a few of them team members. Maybe it was someone who tried out for the team. There are many people who declare and try out. Myself I tried out for the Pan American Games in 1999, but it doesn't make me a team member just someone who has ridden at the FEI levels.

Why don't you just ask your boss what "mystery Pam's" last name is and then ask the Pam in question to confirm her purported credentials?

That seems to be more sensible than having everyone speculate about who she is and send my friends into Canadian citizenship. LOL

Pam Goodrich is american. Her now ex-husband's (Pierre St. Jacques) family had a stable in canada. When Pam and Pierre first married they lived in canada and ran his family's barn for a few years. They then built Foster meadow in NH.
