View Full Version : Jingles for my sister's horse!

He started colicking at the barn today at about 3-3:30 pm. When it wasn't getting better by about 4:45 pm we took him to the New Bolton center. He needed surgery and went in about 1 1/2 hrs ago and the surgeon said she would call us when he's standing. He is a healthy 7 yr old so he is expected to make a full recovery back to a show horse. He was supposed to go to Devon this year with her, but that is obviously not happening anymore. So lots of jingles please!

Big jingles! NBC is a great hospital - they did my mare's colic surgery 4 years ago and she came out of it with relatively few problems, and has since returned to the show ring with me. They will take the best care of your sister's horse, but I understand it is a very scary thing. Jingles and fingers crossed!

DAng. Hope you hear from them soon. That is a terrible feeling. I had a miracle colic cure a couple days ago, sending you good vibes.

Thank you all so much! We just got a call that everything went well. His bowel was twisted 360 degrees and he had dried up manure in his intestines. They also said all his other organs in that area looked nice and healthy :D
So now we are just hoping for a quick and easy recovery! NBC is a great place and has great people there. Thanks again!

I hope everything goes well for him! My horse went to New Bolton on Monday night also with a strangulated lipoma and had surgery. We're lucky to be close to a good hospital like NBC. We've been really pleased with the care and attention he's receiving there. They apparently do quite a few surgeries of this type, so they know what they're doing!
