I took Nikki to a clinic with Joe over the weekend and it was a great experience. I'm so proud of her - I need to brag about how wonderful she is, haha. Joe worked with us last year (at the same clinic) and then a bit in Vermont and Syracuse, so he saw some of our progression from jumper newbies to being more competitive. I was unable to get the flat and gymnastics portions on video last year, but I do have the courses from both years, so I was able to watch both and see the differences. I'm really excited by what I saw, so I had to share :)

I also have the flat and gymnastics videos from this year. I had to split the flat into 5 videos - it's about 50 minutes long in total, but has a lot of exercises in it that Nikki was better about this year (like leg yielding in and out of a small circle).

I just am thrilled with how far we've come (Joe was too!). Last year, he called me "Pipe Arms" because I would lock my elbows when I got nervous; this year, he complimented me on the line from bit to elbow. Nikki and I worked very hard over the past year - I'm so glad that it showed (at least to him). Sorry, had to share! :)

You are such a pretty rider and I am always so envious when I watch your videos. Even though I know that is not your intent when you share your vids. You've always been so good about sharing your vids from lessons and clinics. It's valuable information.

But man, whenever I see how good your position is - how hard you work to make it right all the way around, it really is impressive and I realize how much work I need to do!

As always, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting those. I've recently been offered the opportunity to take some private lessons with Joe, which I am very excited about, and now I have an idea of exactly what to expect. :)

What? PRIVATE LESSONS?! I'm very jealous. My hands-down favorite rider of all time is Joe Fargis. I think I've mentioned before how he would make me star struck if I ever met him!

Cool videos -- I love watching BNTs give clinics. Very educational!

I also really love your mare. Is she a TB?

I enjoyed watching the video, wish I had such a nice position on a horse. You and Nikki did a great job. How nice that you can clinic with Joe on a regular basis so that he gets to see the progression of your riding.

Yep! She never raced, but is a TB through and through (and makes sure to never let me forget that).

Thanks so much, everyone!

I love (and hate!!) watching your videos because your position is so perfect it makes me incredibly jealous! You and Nikki are such a great pair, and Joe seems like a really great clinician based on your videos. Good luck this show year, you two are going to be awesome (as always)!

That was fun to watch! Thanks for sharing.

I got to clinic with him a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I'd love to do it again, especially since I am in a much better place in my riding and sitting on a MUCH nicer horse. I think now I'd gain much, much more from it.

I also like the fact (considering I AM an event rider), that he totally got our event horses and appreciated them for what they were and didn't try to make massive changes to them, just tried to make it much smoother and softer (just as he did in all the videos!). He also was great on fixing small issues, equitation wise, with the riders, but not trying to make us equatate...he got that we don't just ride over jumps in the ring, but also gallop big things at speed that don't fall down. He's great to clinic with.

Thanks for posting; I love the videos.

There are a lot of good ideas for group lessons and making courses in small arenas, which are two frequent topics here on COTH. It seemed like a nice facility to work in, too.

I love to watch her ride. I have two of her vids on my Chronicle of My Horse page. I've been riding for like twice the amount of years she's been alive and am pretty sure I'll never look as good as her.

u both look so good congratulations! i'm especially envious of your eq! out of curiosity, how did you fix your "pipe arms"? I do the same thing and would love to know what you did and worked on to help fix that. everyone says to have elastic arms but that visual just doesn't seem to work for me. anyways, nice videos!

This isn't really going to help you :(... mine fixed themselves when I was in Ecuador - the horse that I rode would bolt if I locked my hands down. It only took 2 or 3 times of running like a lunatic around the schooling ring before I figured it out and haven't really done it since. Sorry...:(
