So I'm just putting feelers out to see what sort of situations might be available. My parents, who are in their 60s and retired, have a beautiful 7 acre farm in central NC. They have a new barn, rotate pastures monthly so the horses always have lush grass, feed Triple Crown, blanket when needed, outstanding vet care, basically spoil their horses rotten. We have two horses there; one is a perfect fat little QH who's fabulous, and the other is a difficult but fabulous older schoolmaster type. He's being a bit of a pill without a trainer around, and because my dad has had some back problems, etc, he just doesn't need to deal with a problem child. So, I'm thinking that in a perfect world, I'd love to lease the schoolmaster out until he's ready to retire, and find someone more suitable for Dad to ride, preferably until that horse is ready to retire. They do lower level dressage, and want to be able to hack safely around the property; I'm thinking that a quiet guy who isn't up for jumping anymore might be perfect. If you think you might have such a horse, please send me some details. As I said, not looking to make an immediate move, but was very concerned this weekend by the older guy being a little brattier than I'd like.
