Huey is in no danger. He can stay here forever. That's fine. I just think he'd be happier someplace else. He's great with other dogs/livestock/kids. He's a great farm/house dog. 2yo, nuetered, utd on shots, happy, healthy. Long legged, tri color, broken (mostly rough)coat. About 25-30lbs. Listens well and comes happily when called.
Why do I think he'd be happier someplace else?
I also have a very neurotic minpin who beats him up. Yes the 4lb minpin makes Huey cower and cry. Huey would rather hide under the chair on the porch than come in the house. We have six other dogs that he gets along with great. He gets along with my neighbors dogs too. I don't know why the minpin singles out poor Huey. I think Huey would be much happier away from Tard (yes the minpins name is Tard). We keep them apart but Huey is constantly looking over his shoulder waiting to be attacked by the evil little troll. Huey will thrive in another environment. The minpin not so much (too many issues).
If you want to give Huey a peaceful, happy home PM me.
Huey is located in Southwestern Va. Could possibly help with transport.

My daughter is looking for a small dog that loves children. We have been checking all the rescue/shelter sites and 90% of the ones we are interested in say 'no small children'. Her boys are 6 and 7 and love dogs but are afraid of the bigger ones that jump all over them and almost knock them down---like my 2 airedales do. Cant say that I blame them :)
Huey would be their only pet but would have frequent visits to a nearby dog park and to grandmas house to play with mine....one is 10 months old and LOVES to play. My daughter doesnt work so Huey would not be alone too often.
How does he do walking on a leash? Do you have any pictures?
Thanks!

Huey is going to his new home in Florida on Thursday. Thanks to all who inquired. I wonder if I can fit myself into his suitcase? LOL

HUEY is now in North Central Florida and I'm thrilled to have him. I wanted to thank Melissa for letting me have him, the 1200 + mile trip was well worth it. He is such a nice boy. Here area few pics of Huey in Florida.

Just wanted to let you know that Huey has settled in and my parents dogs have accepted him. The squirrels are not very happy, instead of walking back to their tree to avoid Duffy (my 18 yr old parson russell) they have to run like hell. He has learned to ride the golf cart and to nap when ever possible because it is a long day here on the farm.
I hope others will adopt/rehome a dog, it is so rewarding. Just because they are up for adoption doesn't mean they are bad or difficult dog if is probably just not a happy fit.
Here are a few pics of Huey

I can't thank you enough. I'm so glad he's finally happy and doesn't have worry about where Tard is.
We miss him terribly, but his happiness comes first.
Thanks again. We really appreciate the updates. Hopefully we'll be able to visit someday.

I'm 30 minutes from the Ocala HITS show grounds, give me shout when you head this way. I have figured out Huey doesn't much like having a bath, any secrets?
My favorite picture of Huey

I love your favorite picture of Huey! He looks like a very content Huey!! What an awesome story! I've rehomed two mixed terriers, one a JRT/Beagle and one JRT/Boston Terrier and both experiences have been very rewarding as well. So I've been watching the status of Huey. He looks like one happy dog. Congrats to all involved!!

I used to bathe him outside in a kiddy pool. His mom loves to swim so we always have the pool filled up for her. It was never an easy endeavor. I always got just as wet as he did.

We adopted a 9 year old Cairn Terrier who hated baths (I used to call her the water viper ). We found that if we put her in our shower (big, with and handheld shower head so we could stay dry), for some reason she was much better. We theorized that she felt like we were with her rather than trapping her in the tub...
