I'm located in north central mass.

OK, here is my wish list for a trail horse. I would not normally think of posting such a thing but have started looking for a free lease or giveaway and can't believe the number of nice horses out there so I thought I'd post my ideal and see what happened. I've been tempted by a few but one is quite green and too far away, one is 17.1 hands and somewhat tough on barns and fences and might have soundness issues in the near future, one isn't big enough to fairly ask her to carry me...etc.

My ideal would be under 10 years old, comfortably able to carry a larger rider, (as I saw written in an add the other day - "a horse than doesn't make my butt look fat"). Preferably 16.1 ish but I can ride 15.3 horse that is sturdily built. I'm looking for a lifetime trail buddy who will go out alone or with others and who is the same whether I get on once every two weeks or 5 times a week. I used to ride about 30 hours per week and would like to get back to as close to that as I can but probably won't be able to realistically due to the typical time constraints. I love a nimble, responsive horse who likes his job and can deal with a bit of a jig or feel good buck but please no spookers! I'm also also not averse to a nice quiet horse that just likes to plop along. I'm a quiet rider and primarily like to do long walks in the woods. I primarily ride western on the trails and typically ride alone although I'm hoping to find someone in my town to ride with once in a while so would like a orse that can go with others and not be a workout! When I get in better shape I'd like to do conditioning work for myself and the horse of it were the the right horse who liked the work. I've always had mares (for 20 years anyway) but prefer a gelding to keep my 3 y.o. filly company. The last mare I had wore me (and my barn) out! I'd prefer a 100% sound, easy keeper but open to maintenance depending on the issues.
