I don't know why I dreamed this but this is what happens when you have too much wine before bed.
I had a dream a few days ago that Phillip Dutton and Connaught were both killed at Galway  Connaught was killed outright in a rotational fall, and Phillip was brain dead and taken off life support. Sorry Phillip!. It seemed so real that when I woke up I checked to make sure they weren't at Galway and I knew there were no reports of anyone being fatally injured so all was good.
Like I said, very strange.

Yowzie!!
I had a dream a couple weeks ago that I trailered a friend's horse-- whom I recently discovered is something of a kicker (the horse, not the friend ) --somewhere and when we got back to the barn and I opened the trailer ramp, my horse's right hind was just hanging (apparently he'd been kicked) and I had to put him down.

Ok, this is may be a bit off topic, but I just realized that I don't dream about horses or eventing, and I have not had a dream about horses since I was a child(before I started riding them)! Hmmm... However, I think about horses all the time I am awake, so maybe that has something to do with it... LOL...

For the last three years I have had a reoccuring dream that I am at an event and late for dressage. Puttering around like crazy all the while knowing I am going to miss my ride time. Stressing out like crazy in my dream. This year for some reason my dream changed. Same senario...now it's stadium I'm late for! Hmmm:lol:

Ok, here's my weirdest eventing dream:
I was going to do my first training HT, and my trainer's daughter offered me her horse, a lovely paint (as far as I know, she's never owned a paint).
I was late going to the start box, and by the time I got there, I realized I didn't have a bridle...! But we went anyway, and we had a LOVELY round. We'd been sitting third after dressage, and we had a perfect XC round....even w/o the bridle!
When I got back and was taking care of the horse (here's where it gets REALLY weird), I was told to "watch my back" because people were mad that I was in third, and "they might try to kill you or your horse".
YIKES!
I love the idea of having a perfect XC round w/o a bridle, though!
I wonder what it all MEANS?? :D

I have a recurring dream about dinosaurs at the barn. The back of the property is lined with trees and they start sneaking out of there so we run into the tack room, hide behind tack trunks in the back (which in RL there's saddle racks in the back, not trunks). Then, one of the dinosaurs figures out how to open the door. We're freaking out hoping he won't see or smell us. We throw him a taco to make him go away...and it works! After that, the dinosaurs start coming in one by one, and one by one we throw tacos on the floor in front of them, they pick them up and run off. It's still a really scary dream though!
Okay, I know it's not totally horse related but it takes place at the barn :p

Wow I guess strange horse dreams are a trend lately, because I just had one the other night.
I was getting ready to go into my dressage test and Lendon Gray was going before me and came over to give me some pointers. So as I entered the ring I realized that I was doing the test on foot! Which of course, in my dream, didn't seem weird at all lol. Not to mention the fact that for some reason I was pregnant during the dream... which is definitely not reality

I've had some weird XC dreams. Usually I'm jumping HUGE stuff, really weird, excessively tricky combinations that would never show up on a real course. I, of course, am scared to death b/c I've never jumped anything this big before. But the horse I'm riding (NOT my real life horse, BTW) is pretty much point and shoot. Its very video-game like. I just kind of sit there and steer, and horse does a double bounce, two strides to a Normandy bank combo that has a landing into the head of the lake at Rolex, and we all make it through fine. I seem to ride so much better in my dreams :)

Seriously, I have this exact dream at least once a month. Usually there are all sorts of unforseen obstacles - can't find my boot pulls, broken billet strap, etc etc. I practically wake up in hives every time!

The late for dressage dream is a CLASSIC. One in a line-up of late dreams that I get either before/during/after exams, or leading up to a 3-day.
Evidently if you get these sort of late dreams, they don't go away for about 20 years after the intial stressor. (According to my Dad, who stopped eventing and finished his University exams... then 40 years later upgraded one of his skills and had to take an exam, and the late dreams came back!)
My worst eventing dream was similar to Eventer13's. I was riding Badminton XC as part of a nat'l team. There were weird combinations, jumps that were 6' tall etc. And my poor horse at that point had only gone Intermediate - he was trying so hard but I kept falling off! Then I had to keep getting back on because the team needed my score! And the course wouldn't end either - it was some kind of marathon Badminton with a zillion numbered obstacles. What a nightmare!!

Last summer, the night before my event, I have a dream that I'm on my gelding going around XC.... and actually going clear. I had never seen that course before (or any course like it! It was crazy!) and I clearly remember that we come to the second to last jump and it was an option- I could either go down a set of stairs or go over a simple bench- but that as I was cantering up deciding what to do, I look back and there is a man on another horse chasing us down with a shot gun in his hand:eek: So for some reason I took the more complicated route of the stairs, and surprisingly made it down them (in reality I have never done banks of any kind with my horse but have on another horse)... after we made it down the stairs the guy chasing us stopped and we then made it over the last jump and everyone was cheering:lol:
So ya know, it's the next morning and I wake up from this dream of having a great XC round (despite the guy chasing us with a shot gun!) and I was generally feeling like we were going to have a great event.... thinking "this is great, maybe this is a sign that we'll make it over the up/down bank on course and complete it clear!" since I was worried about the up bank.... and I was excited to get the day started.
Only I was a complete idiot and didn't eat enough that day (I'm hypoglycemic and it was incredibly hot out) and ended up falling off in stadium because I was about to pass out on the horse. Never even got to make it to XC:mad: I have always wondered how we would have done at the banks...
