We are looking into replacing some old fencing and adding some new fencing to add another turnout pasture for our horses. Has anyone used Esch's Fencing in PA before...??

I have not used them, but I have used Sweitzers, with good results, where in PA are you?

I used Esch's fencing to put in new fence 5 years ago.

8100' of 4 rail (5.25") flex fence with top poly coated wire.

They did an excellent job. Very thorough. Quick and correct fence placement. Straight as an arrow and even.

They've done quite a few farms in my area also (after people getting their number off my fence line or pulling in to ask who did it!).

I've used them. Very good work. My neighbors also used them after seeing ours. They too were happy with the results.

Haven't used Esch's but have used Evergreen (same neck of the woods) many times with great results.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm located in Chester Springs, PA. For those that have used Esch's, can you give me an idea of how their prices are? This is our first farm, so I'm not exactly sure what kind of $$ we're talking about here....!

Over the last 3-4 years I put up 4 rails of the black I think it's called flex fence? the 4" or 5" variety no electric anywhere (hate it- a personal thing and a mare who enjoys sitting on it! seriuosly!) it looks great, I've had no injuries & around the entire perimiter for saftey just did 3 rails - Caution- you do have to put in the corners right and tighten it once a year. But after the last farm I leased before I bought my own I spent 1/2 my day fixing rails, replacing rails and posts- the owner had put in cheap post $ rail that just rotted. I don't know how many posts you need we got them from a wholsaler down South- I can find the # for you if you need it. Eschs also has good prices on gates & stuff roundpens, ect.... PM me if you need any more info- I don't want to sound like a commerical for them but I researched/ priced ect everything - had no choice wanted to build my dream barn :)

I suggest you get two or three estimates. I highly recommend Bob Umble who advertises in the Horse of Delaware Valley.

We bought our vinyl 3 rail fence from them and I've been quite happy with it. We installed it ourselves so we saved a bit of money but I remember the pricing being quite competitive and they were good to deal with.

Very timely thread!

I am trying to get time to call them to get an estimate on installing the Centaur Hot-Rail fencing.

Do any of you know how far south they will travel? We are in lower Sussex County, DE.

Bob Umble is part of Stoltzfus Fencing. If you get the Horse of Delaware Valley, the ad is in the bottom left corner of p. 62 of the April 09 issue. His phone number is 610-593-2208. It says "serving PA, MD, NJ and DE...."

We have some old fencing that needs to be replaced as well as some new fencing we would like to put up. For the old fencing - about how much do they charge to take it out? My husband and I are wondering if that is something we should tackle ourselves first to save some $...
